Some sort of IBS?
Dh gets this and the Dr said its a result of him having a stomach bug.

Could be totally wrong though.

SoupDragon · 13/05/2007 17:19

How long did you starve her for and what did you feed her afterwards?

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 13/05/2007 17:20

Keep starving. If you feed them, the bug can get stronger again. Can she keep liquid down?

I had gastro-enterisit one Christmas and the doctor advised not eating anything for two days because the bug was just not going away.

Rantum · 13/05/2007 17:22

Is she getting enought fluids to help flush the bug out of her system?

Also after a stomach upset or a bout of food poisoning she should probably eat very "easy on the stomach" foods such as plain chicken and boiled rice

or some chicken broth or something

If vomiting continues, I would see a gp!

Sorry can't be of more help...

Katymac · 13/05/2007 17:26

Initial period was 24 hrs (sick wed pm)

Then I let her eat Thurs pm all OK(poached egg)
ate Friday am was sick (bread)
So nothing until Sat am all OK (toast)
sick Saturday lunchtime (quiche - it's what she fancied)
Ate again lunchtime today all OK (toast)
sick this evening (toast)

Liquids (clear) have stayed down the whole time

I would avoid rice. That is what I had and it made me really bad again. I wouldn't have thought quiche was a good idea either, but sometimes a little of what you fancy does you good. Not in her case though...

Are you taking her to the gp tomorrow?

Katymac · 13/05/2007 17:30

Think so - & I just found a funny shaped ole on her arm - I think I'M A BIT(whoops) more worried about that

It's raised and changed shape grr

OP posts:
MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 13/05/2007 17:31

Well, I hope everything is alright. Will you let us know what gp says?

Katymac · 13/05/2007 17:44

I'm sure the tummy bug is just a tummy bug - it just seemed a bit odd that she was sick on the second thing she ate (iyswim)

The mole I will just get checked asap as I worry about these things [overprotective mum emoticon]

She has gastroenteritus (sp?)

No more starving - just very plain food for a few days

No school until Wednesday

So alls well (& all that)

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 14/05/2007 19:58

Glad to hear she is not too bad. What did gp say about the mole?

NotQuiteCockney · 14/05/2007 20:00

I've heard the starving thing isn't actually necessary - you should just let them eat what they want, when it's a tummy bug. (Gastroenteritis is a different thing, obviously.)

Katymac · 14/05/2007 20:44

Spoke to GP

Seeing him on Friday for the mole - tho' he's sure it will be fine apparently the fact that she's mixed race makes it less likely that it's a problem

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 15/05/2007 11:31

That's reassuring.
