Fish oil for very fussy toddler - with least taste???

I have bought the Eskimo for Kids one but she won't touch it and as you need to give 5mls - its too obvious to get her to take it in her milk. She doesnt eat puddings etc so can't hide it in that. Has anyone tried the unflavoured Eskimo oil? Or does it stink as badly as the EyeQ unflavoured?

Any suggestions - ideally i need something that i can hide in her milk?

thanks
alice

the only one I can get into my dd is Abidec, which is multivitamins with omega in it but strangely doesn't taste of fish like the others!

Mum2FunkyDude · 13/05/2007 15:40

yes, abidec here too. It has a lemon taste.

We have haliborange omega-3 fish oils for kids. Taste of orange juice. you bite them in your mouth and he orange oozzy stuff comes out! kids love them, dont taste of fish AT ALL. Although you have to be 3 to take them, so maybe your LO is to young!

Snaf · 13/05/2007 17:22

Haliborange here too. Ds calls them the 'juicy ones'. I don't think they taste of fish but I've never tried them - can't imagine he would take them if they did!

brimfull · 13/05/2007 17:23

I have tried the lot and d will only take eyeq strwberry chewable tablets. He doesn't chew them much really but he does take them with no problem. They are 3for2 at boots atm.

If you want the fish oil for the omega oils you could use hemp oil instead and just add a bit to food a few times a week. It has the optimum balance of omegas 3 and 6 and with all the info about disappearing fish stocks is environmentally good as well. And it tastes a sight better than fish oil and you can just cook with it!

thanks everyone.

Yes, unfortunately too young for chewable ones (and she'd no doubt refuse them anyway). I do use hemp in cooking but she doesnt eat enough of it.

Anyone else?

My ds always took his EyeQ in milk.

RanToTheHills · 15/05/2007 16:32

yyou could always talk it up, maybe? I give my ds eskimo and he proudly calls it his "tutti frutti" and seems to actually like it, poor mite!

Been managing to get some EyeQ Vanilla into her bottles. However now that i have both EyeQ and Eskimo Kids here I am struck by the difference in what they provide (both cost the same and have the same dosage - 5ml)

Eskimo Kids - 410 mg EPA / 280mg DHA
EyeQ Vanilla - 186mg EPA / 58mg DHA

Is there any reason why i cant half the dose of Eskimo and see if i can get that much into her? Would work out much cheaper!
