Everyone always worries about cancer, but most things aren’t cancer.

If it’s mucus, you’re probably looking at an inflammatory process. An infection, or an inflammatory bowel disease maybe. Such things are common.

Either way, speculation is kind of a waste so best to just go to a doctor.

Other common thing is diverticulitis. Your symptoms merit investigation so I wouldn’t be shy about going to doctor ASAP.

You are doing the sensible thing in getting this investigated by your GP.
Try not to panic though - there are many other possible causes, including inflammatory bowel disease, piles, anal fissures, polyps, or just simple trauma from passing a hard constipated stool.
Even if it did turn out to be a tumour, bowel cancer has a good prognosis if caught early, so we’ll done for getting help and not just sitting on it (pun unintended!)
Good luck with your appointment and I hope you soon have some reassuring news from your GP.

Worrying only makes it worse. Any changes in movements, they recommend that you go to the doctor's, but it might not be bad! You're doing the right thing by going to your GP.

Ulcerative colitis has both these as symptoms, as others have said, lots of other things it could be rather than cancer. Well done for checking with GP

Thank you everyone for replying I'll sure be making an appointment at my gp xxx

This is how my symptoms started - I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, since changed to a diagnosis of Crohn's disease.

I put off going to the GP for years, because it would stop for a while and when it came back I was convinced I had cancer, then it would go again. The feeling of urgency is caused by inflammation around the rectum. Go to your local Boots/pharmacy and get some fibrogel or movicol, they taste vile but they will help soften stools and move things on.

Defo go to your GP. I was told from the age of 12 it was hormonal.allergies etc. My new GP, at the age of 28, referred me straight to the IBD team (I suffered for a long time!). I'm now on regular infusions and all is well with the world.

Make the appointment soon. It's maybe embarrassing for you, but GPs discuss patients' bowel problems several times a day and would take this seriously.
