Hysterectomy after miscarriage

Hi. I need your assistance.
I had a miscarriage a few months ago and im terrified of it happening again. I still haven't had AF. DH wants to try again but I've said I want a hysterectomy. I'm still very upset and don't know if I'm depressed, scared or something else!
Has anyone else experienced this?

I’m sorry for your loss.

You are well within your rights to permanently control your fertility. You do not need a hysterectomy to do so, it’s a big operation with long lasting effects. You can opt for less invasive forms of female sterilisation. Or something long acting but reversible.

I don’t know when your miscarriage happened, it’s easy to make big rash decisions in the aftermath of such a big event. Especially if it was recent and your hormones are still haywire. Have you had counselling (I realise unlikely on the NHS)?

Thanks for the reply. No ive had no counselling but I will look into it. I'll have a look at other sterilization methods in the mean time and get some more information about it.
I definitely don't want another baby as I'm convinced I'll have another miscarriage and I had thought of just going back on the pill but I just want to know for certain that pregnancy won't happen.

You sound like you are having a very strong reaction to your miscarriage and that you might need some psychological help to recover.
Have you got children already?
If you have and you are sure your family is complete, then you can ask to be sterilised, where the Fallopian tubes are blocked.
If you haven't got children, then you need to find reliable contraception while you get some support for your anxiety in relation to pregnancy. You don't sound in a calm enough place to make a forever decision.
Hysterectomy is not done for contraception, so let go of that idea.
Childless women do choose sterilisation but most doctors won't let you rush into such a massive decision.
Have a look on the NHS Choices website in the contraception section to see how many methods are available.
