Living without a spleen and fatigue

Not a TAAT but after reading the wealth of knowledge on the thread about the lady having pain in her left side / possible b12 implication etc etc I thought I would ask in regards to living without a spleen.

I had mine removed several years ago and aside from the lower immunity/ increased risk of infection, does anyone know whether any deficiencies can occur? I'm sure I read somewhere once that one needs a higher level of iron and B12. I suffer from fatigue so I am interested in hearing your thoughts.

My son got more energy after his was removed. Have you had your blood checked recently? Was it removed because you have a blood disorder?

No it was removed because I had a tumour which sort of grew on to it

Could the fatigue be due to whatever illness caused your spleen to be removed? I have Splenic marginal Zone Lymphoma which caused me to have my spleen removed 6 years ago. Since then I have been in remission and mostly feel OK when I'm not worrying about the infection risk from not having a spleen- . However i do have random times when I feel lethargic and fatigued, but I thought that was due to the Lymphoma rather than the lack of spleen.

Of course there's medical problem and you've got to see a doctor. That may be the symptom of some illness. It may also depends on weak brain activity or lack of some important elements or vitamins
