Coping with daily pain

Any advice on how to deal with the above? I’ve had daily pelvic pain for just over 2 months. Having an operation in 12days to investigate and hopefully treat. I’m struggling day to day and I feel suicidial. Any ideas how to get through the next week or so? X

Hi there Kate. In one word yes! So sorry you are feeling so awful. Mine is from endometriosis and ovarian cysts, are you having a laparoscopy? Flowers

Kate8989 · 14/04/2018 19:23

Yes I’m having one a week on Thursday. I don’t understand why I have pain every single frickin day

The way I get through is to make sure that I take painkillers at the right times, and not to try and eek it out. Hot water bottles are a godsend, as are hot baths. Try and relax (easier said than done) maybe some meditation apps?

Swifey · 14/04/2018 19:24

Do you know what they think it is?

Swifey · 14/04/2018 19:26

Try solpadeine, its codeine and paracetamol combined. The dissolvering ones are the best, and set an alarm to remind yourself. (These shouldn't be taken for more than 3 days, but just be sensible) I can't take ibuprofen, but if you can then that's another option too, and can be taken with paracetamol.

Nope, they think maybe endo in POD as I’m tender there. But obviously can’t be confirmed until lap. My ovaries are clear, no cysts or anything.... I feel like my body is shutting down. I’m losing weight and my hair is falling out

Have you got anything you can plan for? Research? A holiday, or home improvements?

Kate8989 · 14/04/2018 19:28

I’ve got co-drydamol which I’m taking with ibrupofen. X

Nope nothing to look forward to, I’m a recluse because of the pain. I nearly took my life today x

That doesn't sound like fun at all, how crappy for you. If the pain is bad, then go back to the gp and ask them to prescribe something stronger. I have both codeine phosphate and oral morphine for when it's too bad to cope. Do you have a partner or friends to help you? Children?

Kate8989 · 14/04/2018 19:31

I had a miscarriage in January. I have my Husband, he’s told me to hang in there until lap

Oh you poor darling girl. It will get better, the hospital will definitely find what's wrong and you will feel better knowing, even if it's bad news.
Phone Samaritans tonight if you feel like that again. And OOH for the pain now. Make sure they understand how much pain you are in. Or if you think it's bad enough, then a&e.

Swifey · 14/04/2018 19:34

Miscarriages are shit, and you will not have recovered mentally from that yet either. But have faith. I was told that because of my endo that I would have to have ivf, but to try for six months and see what happened. We tried for 3 days and I had ds1 nine months later. Then I had a terrible miscarriage 2 years later, and then got pregnant again with ds2, who is now 3. So there is hope.
Pm me if you want. X

in one word amitriptyline. It keeps me pain free at a certain dose, otherwise if no painkillers have been prescribed take alternating doses of ibuprofen and paracetamol 2-3 hours apart

Kate8989 · 14/04/2018 21:25

@goose1964 my mum is on Amitriptyline, I’m tempted but if we TTC anytime soon it will be in my system and could risk me having another MC. I’m taking co dydramol and Nurofen... not getting rid of the pain completely but taking some of the edge off
