Would you go to a gp with this?

Ive started getting sharp stabbing pains in lower right abdomen. They are very sporadic but painful enough to make me gasp when I get one. Started two or three weeks ago I guess. At first I thought it could be ovulation pain, as it was the right sort of time in my cycle, although I've never had it before (in my mid-forties) but as it's continued I suppose that's less likely. It doesn't happen very often, once every couple of days maybe. It just disappears completely in between 'stabs' so I forget about it! Can't decide if it's worth a gp appointment or if I should just see how it goes

It's obviously worrying you enough to write a post here, so for your own peace of mind I would book in with a GP :)

I'm not very good at assessing when/what to go to a gp for! I have a chronic condition that I'd ignored for years and only went to a GP when I casually mentioned one of my symptoms to my DH and he practically frog-marched me there. Since then I feel like I should go for everything!

You really should go to your GP. There are a lot of organs around there could be lots of things. I had something similar that the GP thought was a cyst but it passed before I could get it checked.

I get that sort of pain with ovarian cysts- worth an appointment to check

Yup, go to your GP. Could be anything from trapped wind in your caecum, to a hernia, an ovarian cyst, a pulled abdominal muscle, an intermittently inflamed appendix, a stone in your ureter - the list is endless! Get it checked out rather than sitting worrying about it. Your GP will certainly not think you’re a hypochondriac if you usually have to be “frogmarched” there by your DH!

Ok, I'll make an appointment. If it was less painful I wouldn't have wondered about it but it really does stop me in my tracks.
