My DS (2) seems to have been cutting two big back teeth for weeks and to start with when his cheeks were bright red each night, he couldn't settle and crying and squealing for ages, I gave him one/two spoons of Calpol. However, now he's asking for it at some point every night. His cheeks are red when he asks for medicine and he doesn't seem to be being naughty but I know it says only give for 3 consecutive or something similar before going to docs. It's obviously his teeth but is it ok to give him it this often, considering it's paracetamol suspension?
I'm wondering whether it's like the bell and dog theory where he now knows sore teeth equals medicine.

for your ds luciemule. have you tried infant Ibuprofen? My dd suffers terribly when teething and it seems to help more than calpol.
You could try alternating them each night.

Thanks Tiggerish but I don't like the whole anti-inflammatory thing at all. They're not good for adults so I can't imagine what they're like for toddlers. Plus a nurse recently told me that the only drugs licenced for children is paracetamol (haven't heard that before though).
He doesn't eat much so his little tummy isn't really ever well lined therefore I thought I'd stick to Calpol. I tried to rub his gums with gel the other day but he refused to have it. Surely it can't take THAT long for 2 teeth to come through can it?
