Chicken Pox - horrible little blistery feckers - making DS's life a misery ...

This is a moan on behalf of DS as he is covered in pox - they seemed to quadruple overnight - he is mega itchy and unhappy and very feverish last night. Please can someone reassure me that the third day is the turning point and he will be a happier little boy tomorrow - he is 11.5 months old? Also he has them in his bum, over his willy and balls and apparently can;t use calamine there - any suggestions gratefully received.

Why can't you use calamine there? Who told you that?

He probably will start to get better tomorrow

I'm just surprised to hear that. It could be true.

Taylormama · 11/05/2007 17:28

i was surprised as thought you could put calamine everywhere - but his bum looks so sore - changing his nappy makes him wail ...

My dd had chicken pox and I put calamine everywhere. I thought as long as it wasn't used internally, I thought it was fine.

We used Eurax lotion - similar to calamine but lasts a lot longer. We used it everywhere! Bum, willy, bits, face and ears. Only the ones right by his eyes were omitted. There's also a cream but it takes forever to put on when the spots have come in battalions. Also piriton syrup - it really helps to combat the itching.

thanks for the tip corrie - will give it a whirl ... lulu - speak soon

put some porridge oats into the sock end of a pair of tights and put this closed into the bath. The oats in water will be calming on his skin. This worked a treat for my kids.
