Dd - 20 wks mixed fed (about 60% SMA Gold 40% bf). She's had greenish poos for a while on and off. I've mentioned it to HV, but not really worried about it as no other symptoms. Put it down to the different milks mixing in her tummy - tried to space meals.

Last three days she's had lots of farts which smell so much that people across the room are convinced that she's pooed. Once a day on each day she has done a large totally khakhi (i.e. v. green) poo...

Wanted to quickly check if this was still OK - is any action necessary? Is all this excitement doing her little tummy any harm?

Anyone had this? Sorry to bother the wisdom of MN on something so silly

Thanks chaps... helpful to have some comments - suddenly think I've figured what's happening! Been sporadically taking fenugreek to try to prop up milk supply - now thinking that it must have worked better than i realised and Dd (the cheeky b*gger ) might have been getting a belly full of foremilk.

Funny - honestly never crossed my mind that it might be sometihng I ate coming through the breastmilk. Perhaps I should have more confidence that she's actually getting anything out.

Thanks again for comments

Personally I never found any link between what I ate and dd's poo when I was breastfeeding, before she started solids. But she had green poo for a week or so when she was coming down with a cold. She got over it though!

Dd had green poo when she was getting too much foremilk and not enough hind milk. But she was fully b/f so I don't know if that would be the same with mixed feeding? All I do know is that when the poo is green fairly regularly it's because something is irritating the intestines and causing the milk to get digested too quickly so that it's not fully digested, thus comes out green. It often happens during tummy bugs for instance. In the case of too much foremilk I was advised to feed from one breast only for each feed and only offer a second breast if she still seemed very hungry.
