I mean everything has side effects - but are three any DD should look out for?

Thanks

I am not on it anymore, but not because of any problems. I didn't have any noticeable side effects. My periods were definitely lighter and shorter. I hope it works well for your daughter :)

KatyMac · 08/04/2018 15:34

thanks - that's the side effect we are hoping for!

Yes...if you google zoely patient information leaflet you can read about side effects

shewolfmum · 08/04/2018 23:58

Can you try acupuncture or learn some acupressure? Less side effects?

KatyMac · 09/04/2018 18:46

This will be our 4th attempt - nothing is really working for her

Acupuncture doesn't really work as contraception

I really hope it works for her Flowers

If not, has she tried the progestogen-only pill? I had no periods at all while on Cerelle. I now have the Nexplanon implant and again, no periods. Previously they were heavy and painful.

KatyMac · 09/04/2018 20:55

I'm wrong actually this is her third pill, implant and injection so 5!

I hope it works too!

Oh sorry i read that as your daughter wanted to have lighter periods...i guess mucus and temperature charting will be a step too far!

This made me laugh. Not tried Zoely but I have a mirena coil which is brilliant. It’s all but stopped my periods.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/04/2018 21:43

I had a Mirena too and no periods. But the insertion was very painful as I hadn't given birth, which I'm, perhaps incorrectly, assuming is the case for OP's daughter. I'd recommend trying pretty much anything (apart from acupuncture!) first, just to avoid going through that.

Flampingu · 09/04/2018 22:56

Ah, I’m the same but had mine put in under GA - I guess the gynae wasn’t joking when he said he was doing me a favour with the GA!

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/04/2018 23:01

No, he definitely wasn't joking :) sorry I didn't mean my post to be dismissive. It's a great opti9n, apart from the insertion. It was genuinely one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life. Not the worst pain, but a really weird sort of pain. I felt queasy and dizzy and just awful during and afterwards.

Flampingu · 09/04/2018 23:32

That sounds horrible - I’m very thankful I wasn’t awake now.

Sorry to derail your thread OP - sounds like the mirena isn’t a good option unless you get it put in at the same time as other procedures. I hope Zoely works out for your daughter.

KatyMac · 11/04/2018 09:36

Yes I've been kind of avoiding that for her....who knows if zoely doesn't work what we will try next
