This has been on hubbys side of his hip for 6-9 months. I'm booking him in the drs tomorrow to have it checked but what do you think this is? A normal mole or something more sinister? It has a dry skin appearance

I'd say it's a mole. I'm covered in them and still get new ones appear.

FlaminYon · 05/04/2018 13:10

Looks a bit like a wisdom spot but I’d check with gp anyway.

ItsASairFecht · 05/04/2018 13:11

Is it slightly raised, but flattish? feels dry almost scaly? My OH gets something that looks very similar..I was v concerned so sent him to GP..I forget the correct name but they are (if I remember correctly) known as senile warts (or something similar)..they are not dangerous and eventually drop off.

reallyanotherone · 05/04/2018 13:13

Looks like a sebhorreic ketosis to me. Not that i’m an expert, just a very moley person who also has loads of these.

If it is,it’s harmless. But alwaysbest checked.

FlaminYon · 05/04/2018 13:13

They have lots of different names but actual name is seborrhic keratosis. Not harmful if that’s what it is.

I have one on my boob except it’s become really irregular and has a dark crust on it. I believe it’s a geriatric wart but going to run it past my GP at the next appointment.

Giraffe5 · 05/04/2018 13:32

Thanks all. Yes it's dry to touch almost scaly. Almost like a sticker- flat but very slightly raised. He's just been told by the gp he has something on his forehead which was precancerous - he can't remember the name and I wasn't at the appointment! He's using a cream for it and has to go back but I'd like this checking too

Absolutely get that checked. Going to the gp is the right decision.

HollowTalk · 06/04/2018 20:39

@FancyNewBeesly You really need to get that checked out.

Tanfastic · 06/04/2018 20:50

I've got a couple of these, they sometimes flake off and then grow back again. Can't remember the name but they are harmless. Don't take my word for it though, no harm getting checked.

ItsASairFecht · 06/04/2018 23:21

Giraffe5 It does sound just like my husbands. He has several on his back at present, and previously (those dropped off).

Giraffe5 · 07/04/2018 00:06

Thanks. He went to the dr today and it is a seborrhoeic keratosis and completely harmless unlike the actinic keratosis on his head!
