Scratched off mole - can a GP still assess?

My DD (age 9) has got quite a few moles over her neck. Recently of the moles has gotten a bit darker, has grown slightly and changed from soft and flat to raised and a bit rough with a bit of redness at the edges.

Although we are fairly confident it would be nothing we booked an appointment to have the doctor check it over. The appointment is on Friday next week (booked a couple of weeks ago).

Since booking the appointment the mole became itchy and my DD and has managed to itch off the entire head. You can see where it was as a scab but cannot see the actual mole anymore.

Can anyone advise if it still worth seeing the GP now that the mole itself cannot be seen? Will the GP be able to assess it when the mole itself has been scratched off?

You should definitely keep the appointment. If the doctor isn't sure then they will send you to a specialist. And if it's itchy it needs to be checked out and perhaps removed altogether if it's an irritation.

Thank you.

I was just worried about wasting their time as the mole is no longer there, worried they wouldn't really be able to help and would hate to waste their time.

You didn't save the little scabby removed mole? They can't test what they don't see.

I have itchy ones that scab off. They are a type you get as get older (very benign).

No unfortunately I didn't see her actually scratch it off, however she had started to itch it and one morning it had been scratched off.

I am assuming benign but am worried. Don't think it is to do with her age as she only 9.
