We noticed on holiday that ds1's tooth (second tooth) had come through with a yellow mark on it. I thought it was some kind of plaque and so took him to the dentist today.

He looked at it and said that it seems to be lack of enamel and his other second teeth may come through like it.

it looks awful- ds has excellent dental hygiene- I dont want him to have a mouth full of yellow teeth.

I looked at ds's notes as we left and it appears to say 'Enamle hypoplasia'

Ive googled it, but tbh- I dont understand it, how can I find any more info- can someone tell me in normal language what the outcomes for this are?

PLEASE?

thats really interesting,

what has happened with your sons teeth?

2 of them (at the back) started with marks, but then started disintegrating.. the dentist tried gluing the remains together and added a filling, in the end they disintegrated totally, piece by piece, with no reason ever given.

We were also told that you could have the rest of the teeth painted with some kind of varnish to protect the enamel, but we didn't get that far.

When my son started getting other symptoms, we eventually ended up at the neurologist who revealed the extent of symptoms that can go right across the body, connected to beastly gluten. We went gluten-free overnight.

My son doesn't even have celiac, but he has gluten-sensitivity and the visit to the top UK neurologist (plus extendive reading) was a life-changing experience and nothing short of miracle. And yes, it was a neurologist who knew the reason and asked about his teeth and enamel. He is worth his weight in gold to me.

The rest of his teeth are fine now, the other (many and varied) symptoms retreated and we are back on track.

Maybe it's not the answer for you, just one of the things you could consider?

Hi Nightcat,
Please could you send me the details of the neurologist in a PM? I'm going through exactly the same with my DS. He has gluten sensitivity but GP has completely dismissed what I've said and I must have "given my son a remote control" as I let him eat too much sugar (he hardly eats sweets and the only sugars he gets are natural fruit ones). The more I read about gluten, the more I'm sure that it's the cause for a lot of ill health. Thanks so much
