Compression pants for Post Hysterectomy ???

Hi,
I'm having a hysterectomy in few weeks time, after years of problems with adhesions, and excessive bleeding. I've being reading up and many websites suggest post surgery compression girdle to help feel more supported and aid healing. Has anyone any experience of this? Do I need to get specific post surgery pants or would any 'shape wear compression work, or am I better off with just 'big briefs? I've had 3 c sections and other abdominal surgeries so am well aware of that feeling , post surgery, of everything 'falling out' and think extra support should help. Anyone have any experience of this??

What you need is support garments which can be a belt, big pants or ones with legs. I call them my NHS Spanx. But I don't wear them much as I find them uncomfortable but I probably should. Mine come from a service called Supportex so you could google them to find out how to be referred. I was referred by stoma nurses. HTH

I was given the option of NHS supportwear after my open colectomy & ileostomy (I have also had a laparoscopic hysterectomy which was much more straightforward). In reality though the idea of having anything remotely tight over the abdomen - after either op - was unthinkable. Loose tunics and stretchy yoga pants with Bridget Jones undies were much more like it.

With lots of rest, and studious adherence to instructions about no lifting etc, I avoided herniation and healed well, though I know that isn’t the case for everyone.

Hope all goes well for you.
