Any reason why 2 year old would start dribbling lots (not teething)

My nearly 2 yo ds has started dribbling huge amounts in the last few days. He's got all his teeth apart from the very back molars, top and bottom, (although won't let me have a good look in there to see if more are coming). He is having his top changed frequently at nursery because it's getting soaked through. i noticed that when we were out and about at the weekend, playing football and stuff he came in 'dry'. It just seems a bit odd

My friends DS dribbled a lot and it turned out to be thrush.

Thanks Jodie, will keep an eye out for that. Do you know if there are any other symptoms?

Drinking lots and he had like a white coating on his tongue, but it wasn't there all the time.
He was always in a bib when we were out to save his clothes, he was fine in himself but the him mum noticed the discolouration she took him to the GP who said it was thrush. I dont know what the treatment was tho, but he hasn't had it since. It was about 6mths ago, he would have been 20mths.

My ds has always dribbled loads and loads .... but stopped suddenly about 4-6 weeks ago at about 2.1 ... however, he started up again last week ... I think it may be his very back teeth coming in. Perhaps yours is the same - I'm not sure when they are due though.

Is he ok other than the dribbling. My ds dribbles all the time because he has enlarged tonsils. They get inflamed occasionaly and he usually has to have penicilin. On waiting list to have them out.

Ds seems fine otherwise, there isn't a white coating on his tongue. I suppose he could be getting his very last teeth - comin gto think of it he has been getting nappy rash, which ususally coincides with teething. the only other thing to note is that he is pooing frequently, but normal poos, not loose or anything. (sorry if TMI). I really noticed this at a family party at the weekend because I took 3 spare nappies and we used them all up in 2 hours. Then at nursery yesterday he had 3 poo-ey nappies, and did one on the way home too! Today has been a bit more normal poo-wise, but still the excess dribbling

Is he poorly with teething usually? My ds is 3 now and I was told by my dentist a child has 20 teeth by the time they are three. Thats why I know my ds isnt dribbling because of his teeth. If he lets you look in his mouth chech he hasnt got any sore bits at the side of his mouth or tongue. If your dentist and local and doesnt mind you popping in ask if hell have a quick look. Might set your mind at rest. Good luck
