Any heart /cholesterol people about? Non typical angina?

Just wanted to ask:
H (53) sedentary, has history of digestive problems now under control. Takes a number of meds for this /has had surgery. Also suffers depression and anxiety many years, worsening.
Was bluelighted in 18m ago with chest pain radiating to jaw but sent home basically unexamined. Continues to have chest pain and wheezy. Is on statins (2omg atorvastatin), 200g sertraline, 30mg vesicare, 40mg propanol, and metaclopramide.
I finally got him back to GP. they did trace and bloods and sent him into hosp (not admitted) where they have done chest xray and trace and treadmill over the last week in diff appointments.
Upshot (afaick) is:
'angina unlikely as heart mostly ok on treadmill but attacks happen randomly / when sitting so could be atypical'
cholesterol in excess of 8 so statins to be doubled immediately
back in for 'look at arteries within 4 weeks'

I'm not sure he should return to work meantime (he is a public vehicle driver) and the 'attacks' happen randomly. He gets clammy and short of breath and clutches his chest so it is not good.
He is a bit of an anxious person and not sure whether the 'look at ateries' will be painful. he cant remember what they called it and is fretting. I dont suppose they will tell me as it is his health issue.

can anyone comment on any of the above pls?

I'm sure when my mum had this done, it was like an ultrasound. She had to lie flat and they used a probe on her neck (I think) to get images. It was just like an ultrasound when you have a baby, completely painless but my mum was a bit anxious because she was always breathless when lay flat.
My mum did have heart problems, as well as severe anxiety. There was a time when she had symptoms of a heart attack but it was apparently a bad panic attack.
Is there anything that could be done to help with the anxiety? Being behind the wheel when he's so worried can bring on a panic attack at the least. Could he take a bit of time off work to de-stress while it's going on?
I've suffered with health related anxiety. I found that a technique called 54321 or grounding helped me. There's loads of info online.
I hope your husband feels better soon x

Unstable angina is the worst type of all; it's often called a heart attack in waiting.

Unlike stable angina that happens with exercise.

He should certainly not be on the roads with what you describe happening. He sounds as if he is the sort who should be on the list for a heart bypass or a stent. Have they not scanned his heart or done any other imaging? Your post doesn't say anything about a 'look at his arteries' (except to say he's anxious over this.) What's been planned?

He will probably be having an angiogram, where a wire is passed into the heart either through the wrist or groin artery, dye is then injected to get images of the arteries. I have had this, a local anaesthetic is used so I didnt feel it going into my wrist, I had to lie very still and all I felt was my chest going very tight for a few seconds when the dye was injected, and then it was all over.

would he see his GP about his anxiety, maybe get signed off work until he has had his tests?

Tricksy thanks for the input. I think the panic attacks contribute but I think there is something building re heart/arteries/cholesteraol too.. I will look into the relaxation techniques and speak to him about them.

Method I think he should stay signed off too.

StNicolasOfTheCats I just texted to ask him and he is not sure. He finds health issues upsetting and struggles to remember what is said. Understandable (broke his neck aged 13 and it was badly done)
GP already has him on betablockers for anxiety :(

I'm unsure how to tag/highlight names (I'm new to this) it does sound like he definitely needs testing for a health related issue, I was just trying to think of something that he might be able to do while he's waiting for tests etc, to try and ease some of the anxiety.Reading back on my comment, it comes across like I'm focusing it all on his anxiety, so sorry about that. Fingers crossed you get answers soon x

Tricksy (you put asteriks around a name to highlight)
I am very grateful for your suggestions. I think it is both tbh. I think he is anxious but I also think there is an underlying issue. Both need addressing so your input is very helpful.x
