Why can't I sleep?

I feel so unwell, haven't slept well in I don't know how long. Waking at 2,3,4,5 in the morning and can be awake for hours. I have autoimmune issues that seem to be multiplying - coeliac, hypothyroid, b12 injections, below average kidney function, tingling in feet and legs, tinnitus, aches and pains.

What is going on?

You need loading doses of B12 to start with. That's five or six in a short period to get your liver stores up. Then an injection every so often. I'm every four weeks now. Have a look at this website it'll tell you the NICE guidelines which you can speak to your doctor about if necessary.

Fingers crossed that'll be if some use

Thanks, I had been started on them before and had more injections I think one a week for a few weeks. They were then stopped but it became clear that my B12 levels were just falling again so back on for good now I guess. Had jag today and they want to check blood before the next one in 12 weeks. Don't feel any different yet and here I am again been awake nearly two hours!

Unfortunately, sleep problems can be put down to so many issues. I do know that whatever condition might be contributing to my difficulties, the main one is the fact that I am and always have been a thinker and it's so ingrained in who I am, I don't know how to switch it off at night.

There are quite a few of us at work who have a fitbit and comparing our sleeping patterns are very interesting. Some only get 5 hours of sleep at night and do ok, but somehow manage to get 1/5th to 1/4th of it to be deep sleep. I am extremely lucky to get 1/8th of my sleep to be deep so even I get 8 hours of sleep, I still don't feel I had a good night sleep or refreshed in the morning.

My job is very demanding mentally, so I don't have much hope of improving things as I continue in this line of work, however, I do think mindfulness can really help. I did start it some months ago and I think it was indeed helping, so will try it again.

Sleep has been variable over last few nights but definitely better. I think a combination of taking supplements, getting B12 jag, keeping notebook by the bed to write down things that are keeping me awake.

What type of magnesium are you all taking as there seems to be so many different types? Which one is best for sleep and what dosage?

Still massively struggling to sleep through, can grief cause insomnia and if so what can I do about it?

Latest health issue seems to be drop in blood pressure when measured from sitting to standing, does that relate to sleep problems?

Same here epicclusterfuck. I've gone from being awake for hours before getting to sleep in the evenings, to waking up at 5, then 4:30, then 4am and this morning 3:30 and incapable of getting back to sleep. My deep sleep is just about non existent!

Yes, grief can certainly cause poor sleep as it is a form of stress. Not sure about drop in blood pressure and certainly don't know what the solution is unless maybe removing any triggers for stress, which in my case would mean removing work, kids, husband, house :)

No stress would definitely help me sleep! I dream of a holiday on a private beach, just me, my bed and the beach. Nothing to do but eat, sleep, swim, I imagine I would sleep for hours!
