HV and doctor are both crap - so wanted some advice please, my daughter who is 7 months makes a gasping breathing sound most days and looks fairly distressed whilst doing so.

I dint know if its a coincidence or not, but often happens during or after she has a poo - and for a time after.

Its horrible, just now I took her out side into the fresh air to make it stop but its still here, what do i do?

The sound is similar to a horse crib-sucking if any one here knows that sound

what has the GP said? Did he listen to her chest? Maybe a chest infection.....

GooseyLoosey · 09/05/2007 13:28

My 2 were both "wheezy" babies and made a lot of gasping sounds. With dd, who did it almost all the time, I got a referral to a very nice peadiatrician who said some babies are just like that.

However, while I wouldn't worry, I think I would get it checked out, especially if she looks like she is in pain. It sounds to me like it might be stomach pain of some sorts rather than breathing problems. If you are not happy with what the GP says, ask for a referral, it may take a while but will give you piece of mind if you really are worried.

when she started doing it a few months ago i took her and saw the on call doc who said was nothing to worry about she'd just learnt to make the noise, but i dont think so any more and im worried

could she have some thing wrong?

if you are concerned and not reassured , see a different GP or go back to your GP and ask for a referral to a paed.....

I would take her back tbh and see your own GP. May be nothing but as it's been going on a while could be something and worth checking for any infection on her chest or asthma.

how does asthma present itself in young children?
