Anyone used Aldara (imiquimod) for sun damage?

I have a few solar kerastoses on my face and last year saw a dermatologist. I used a cream he prescribed for a week (sorry I've forgotten the name). It was horrific, practically my whole face blistered, it was excruciatingly painful and I looked awful. I was forewarned so got through it ok.
Unfortunately a couple of the scaly patches didn't clear/ came back and so he had now prescribed Aldara, but it's a much longer course of treatment and effect - 6 weeks recovery.
I'm scared of having to live with a blistered and peeling face for a long time - he did say it peaks and then subsides, and I am committed to doing it as the cells can be ore cancerous, I'm scared of getting skin cancer (fair Irish skin that has been badly burnt a few times when younger)
I just hoped someone on here has had experience of it and can reasusure me please?

I know a couple of people who had this applied to various parts of the body, Inc face with excellent results, not sure if they had it on in the same place more than once. I have to say the reactions appeared horrendous to see at the time.

That's what I'm worried about, with the last treatment (picato??). My face was covered in huge, pussy blisters it was truly horrific for a few days and this course of treatment is 6 weeks

If anyone ever searches for this, I'm on week 4 and it's pretty grim. I have horrendous cold sores and scabs all over my top lip and under my eye has a big scabby blister that swells (the swelling comes down with ibuprofen.
I'm having to remind myself of why I am putting myself through it.

Just sending sympathy, my FIL has has to do this a couple of times and has hated it. You are right to remember why you are doing it and keep telling yourself 'this too shall pass'. Good luck and I hope it's over soon and they never come back.

I had to stop treatment after 4 of the 6 weeks as the blisters all got infected. It's been horrific. I can't post a photo as I've been putting (happier) photos on the gardening page.
