My husband suffers with bad psoriasis, he also has been a lifelong eczema sufferer.

Lately his face has flared up so badly and as he deals with clients and heads presentations at work he is understandably self conscious.

So what I'm asking is if anyone has had success with anything maybe we haven't tried, all over the counter creams and various creams and gels that have been prescribed by a very unsympathetic consultant have had no success. The consultant has said that not enough of his body is covered to be eligible for light treatment...and he has now been left with try to manage it yourself at home Confused

I find alphosyl works and as above the MG217 scalp application is good. I am also prescribed a steroid scalp application by the GP called diprosalic.

anonymousbird · 28/03/2018 09:20

@timeistight - do you take a Vit D supplement?

anonymousbird · 28/03/2018 09:25

@lazymum99 - I love alphosyl but they discontinued the cream I found most helpful. I do have the Alphosyl shampoo and it's ok, better than normal shampoo as it does help ease itching but only for a day or two!

I think I will give MG217 a go - apologies, missed the reference to that higher in the thread.

@anonymousbird - yes, I do. 4,000iu per day.

I literally cried when the EU banned PolyTar shampoo (yes, yes they did, as coal tar is a carcinogen. Same reason that your Wright's coal tar soap just doesn't smell the same as it used to - it's now made with Tea Tree Oil instead) because Alphosyl has been absolute shite in comparison. The only thing I've found that comes anywhere near being as good as PolyTar shampoo is Orgeon Anti-Plaque Scalp Shampoo: www.skinshop.co.uk/oregon-intensive-scalp-shampoo

I'd also like to try SkinShop's Oregon Intensive Serum and the Maintenance Cream but they're really expensive for the size of tubes that you get, so I'm waiting for a good sale in order to justify trying them out - presently I use Aveeno cream because you can get three large tubes of that at Costco for a bit over £5.

Does that mean polytar on sale in Boots is not the same as it was? It says "4% coal tar solution" on the front of the bottle....

Like the look of the Oregon range, thanks for that.

I have been on methotrexate for the past 2 years and it cleared mine right up, it was a godsend. Apparently a load of side effects with it but I haven't noticed any. I think though that I need to get the dosage upped now because it's starting to come back. Atm I'm using a new steroid product called enstillar on prescription it's a foam that you rub on and it's very good check out reviews on it
