I thought my dd had an eye infection and cold but as it turns out I think it could be hayfever.
Is it worth taking her to the Dr's?
Shes fine inside but her eye starts to water slightly when out.

Yes - I was on hayfever stuff from about the age of 6. Most will prescribe something

TinyGang · 08/05/2007 11:29

My dt's have been prescribed Cetirizine which seems to help.

DS who is 6 has hayfever and had it last year. We took him to the doctor and he prescribed medicine and eye drops. DS has particular problems with his eyes and hay fever - we have been called into school about them in the past. He is going again tomorrow because we need more medicine.

Bozza - my eyes would completely swell up and I would fall asleep. It was a bit when I got to senior school and I did it in a history lesson!!!

So does piriton have no effect then?

Its the drowsy factor with piriton I think

Been to docs this morning with ds as he's had a cough for about 3-4 months that he just can't shift. Not really bad just irritating in mornings especially, the doc doesn't think it's asthma but asked if he has hayfever, which he does so we've been given some cough medicine, hayfever medicine and eyedrops so hopefully we'll see the back of this stupid cough.
Is it usual to cough with hayfever?
This is about 3rd time I've been with this cough just kept thinking it will go away eventually and it hasn't yet!

At DS's school the children play on the field at lunchtime. This makes it worse if he is not medicated.

My dd1 age 4 is on steroid nose spray for a couple of weeks to try to calm down her continual blocked nose which I'm sure is due to allergy. Not much joy so far. I've tried piriton, loratidine, and zirtec over the counter-no good so far. No drowsiness either! darn it.
