Around Christmas time I noticed what I thought at the time was a new mole on my chest. Since it seemed to have appeared quite suddenly I went to the GP and was referred to a dermatologist. While waiting for the appointment I happened to pass a beauty clinic that had pictures in the window of all the different types of things they could treat, and one of them - seborrhoeic warts - looked exactly like my "mole." So I later looked up some more information on those, and I'm pretty sure that's what I had. It was flattish, rather dry textured, and it bled a couple of times when I accidentally scratched it.
Fast forward a couple of months and I had my consultation at the hospital, The dermatologist didn't actually say what he thought my "thing" was called, but he straight away said it was completely harmless, but he would like to remove it as it was in a position where it could get rubbed by my bra. I had quite a few dates coming up where I wouldn't have been able to have it done, so we agreed it would be after the Easter holidays. I haven't had a date through yet.
Trouble is, a few days after he'd looked at it (and perhaps not incidentally wiggled it about a bit), the "thing" became a lot more scabby looking and within a week or so it had all fallen off. There's only a tiny mark left where it was. If it's what I think it is it could potentially grow back or I could get more of them, but there's essentially nothing to remove at the moment.
I don't know what's the best thing to do now -
(1)) wait for my appointment letter and then phone and say it's gone and ask what they want me to do,
(2)try to get in touch proactively now, or
(3) just turn up to the appointment, show him the tiny mark and see what he thinks. The problem with option 2 is I've only got the phone number for the department as a whole (probably the receptionist) and don't actually know the name of the person I saw, although I could probably give a good description of him!
What do you think?
