Whatever you do get it checked - I know that you said that you were going tomorrow.

DS2 is prone to it - he had a nasty bout of it at 18 months which 3 Drs diagnosed as Conjunctivitis and after 3 weeks of no treatment he ended up in hospital for a week. Poor little man.

He also had another attack last month (aged 3.5yrs)where a little scratch on his upper lip just exploded within a couple of days. Thankfully we kne what it was immediately.

Unfortunately being boys they are always getting into mischief with their dirty hands then they rub their faces and bingo - back to the Doctors!

If it is Impetigo I would always keep Bactroban at home - just in case!!

Hope he's OK.

Bactroban is an antiB - not sure if you can buy it over the counter in the UK, worth checking. Fucidin too is the other one we use.

DS was in hospital because the Impetigo was around his eye. Because it is so highly contagious, each time we gave him drops for the so called Conjunctivitis it was spreading it like wild fire. It eventually was under his eyelids.

He ended up on 6 types of drugs for 6 days, 4 times a day through a Canular (sp?) in his ankle. And he was in isolation - which for him was the worst part as there was a bloody great train track right outside his room that all of teh other little ones were playing on!

dd has it at the moment, Its a regular occurance here since we live on the edge of a nature reseave and any cut or scratch gets infected from the traces of the animals.
Usually its Fucidand an oral antibiotics but the doc we saw on Saturday suggested IV antibiotics since they are faster acting but involved an over night stay. I have gone for the oral route.
Would love to be able to keep a stock of AntiB's here since thats about the only thing mine ever catch no matter now clean I keep them.
