Liver and gall bladder flush

RunningjustasfastasIcan99 · 14/03/2018 12:40

After talking to a nutritionist today about being a bit hormonal and poss. pre menopausal she recommended a liver flush (epsom slats and fat etc.) She showed me pics of stones that might come out. I have no other symptoms. Has anyone tried this (with/ without having stones diagnosed) ? and what happened? TIA

This is nonsense the liver is a highly effective organ which already detoxifies the body. Nothing can 'flush' the liver. If you had gallstones you would know about it, trust me. You will be having quite severe pain under your right rib area plus nausea and vomiting. Only surgery can remove them . Salts contribute toward kidney stones anyway when ingested. Bathing in Epsom salts will do diddly squat but soften your skin maybe.
There is no way you have gallstones if you aren't getting symptoms so no need to spend your money. Plus as I've just said gallstones can only be removed surgically.

Can i just add that even tiny or micro stones cause immense pain. I know i been through it. What qualifications does this nutritionist have? The luver and gall bladder have nothing to do with post ir pre menopause or PMS . Gallbladder creates and stores bile and liver detoxifies chemicals in your blood not hormones. There are other things you can try for hormones , such as taking starflower oil, aromatherapy, wild yam capsules, eating a healthy diet, and trying to de stress, ie massage and meditation
If your hormones are affecting u that much see your GP who can run some tests and measure yoyr level of hormones, thyroid ect

I'm waiting to get my gallbladder out. If you wake up at 3am sweating in so much pain that you are waiting for an alien to explode through your ribcage, then that's when gallstones are causing a problem.

Even if it were possible to flush them, I'd highly recommend that you let them stay put.

Icepinkeskimo · 14/03/2018 13:59

Sorry but I have to confess that I do indeed have this done twice a year, but not for hormonal or PMS reasons. I was recommended this as I was run down and sluggish. I put it off for a couple of months and then took the dive.

You have to set aside a weekend, and believe me you do not want to have anyone around you when undertaking this, because you need to be close to the toilet or within 2 minutes of it!!! Its not for the faint hearted that for sure!. However I did feel better after it, and I will continue to do this every six months. Trust me though you will hate the sight and taste of cold pressed apple juice for the rest of your life, you literally have to drink it every day, for two weeks before the flush, and I mean a lot of it!

The pain from gallstones is unbelievable - if it was that easy I'm sure thousands of us would be doing it

unsurewhy · 14/03/2018 14:16

What did you do @Icepinkeskimo? I don't really know what one is

I have had my gallbladder removed already

RunningjustasfastasIcan99 · 14/03/2018 15:55

Sorry. I wasn't diagnosing myself with gallstones but I do drink a lot so would have thought anything might help. The process doesn't look great though. It's drinking malic acid. Oil and Epsom salts. Confused

Icepinkeskimo did you pass anything when you did it?

I understand the so called stones that some people pass doing this are nothing of the sort. Just a result of the combination of the stuff you're drinking on this 'cleanse'.

Yogagirl123 · 14/03/2018 17:19

I agree with other posters, gallstone pain, is amongst the worst pain you can ever imagine.

AlbertaSimmons · 14/03/2018 17:25

The best thing you can do for your liver is stop drinking alcohol.

If you look up liver and gall stone flush it's all on there, it's basically 2 weeks of drinking cold press apple juice every day for two weeks and then d day arrives
Epsom salts and more apple juice, at intervals. You will need to be near the loo trust me!
Finally one more dose of Epsom salts, olive oil and grapefruit juice, then to bed an lie on your right side for half an hour. You get this weird sensation which apparently the gallstones moving. The next morning more Epsom salts and juice and then the loo.

Yes I passed tiny gall stones lots of them, to be honest your weak by that time you feel depleted. Have a relaxing Sunday have a light lunch, clear soup etc. And sleep. By Monday you start to feel a little better by Tuesday I was bouncing around again.

It's not for the faint hearted drinking Epsom salts is just vile so drink through a straw with really chilled water do not stop to taste it though it's horrendous!

Dolphin321 · 15/03/2018 00:49

You are not passing gall stones drinking that concoction. Read the link above. Its the solidified oil you are passing. Gallstones dont float they are hard and if you were to really pass gallstones u would be in agony. Why do u think so many people end up having operations or end up in A&E

Bloomed · 15/03/2018 00:56

Exactly Dolphin321

RunningjustasfastasIcan99 · 15/03/2018 07:20

Thanks. Don't think I'll bother. Had no idea.

I would also be taking any advice from that nutritionist with a large pinch of salt (which I’m sure they would say should be Himalayan). They obviously don’t know much about how the human body works, which I would tend to think is a worry in someone advising about diet.
