Lump in my side

Found a lump in the side of my tummy back in December, it seemed to disappear. Felt it again tonight. Its perfectly round and quite firm. I have to bend to side and stretch out/strain side to feel it iyswim. Very painful to touch but no pain otherwise. Its sort of middle of side across from navel.

Have checked other side and its full of similar wee bumpy bits, but nothing as 'distinct' as this.

I'm big (fat) so hard to really feel properly to be honest.

My mind has gone straight to serious causes which are unlikely arent they? Given its been there 3 months with no change at all.

I've a physio assessment on Tues so will ask her opinion but should I try to see GP as well? Worried they'll want to do scans etc.

Do see GP to be sure but it sounds very much like a hernia.

I have a hernia and I would describe mine quite like what you have described. I got an awful fright one day when I was doing some exercise and the big one literally popped out. I had scans and they confirmed it to be a hernia (I have multiple thanks to pregnancy). I was offered keyhole surgery to have it removed but was told I would be unable to lift my kids for a number of weeks which just wasn't possible, so I left it.

Go to your GP though to be sure.

'Hopefully' that's all it is then Flowers. I've googled which says likely other causes is an ovarian cyst/scarier ovarian stuff, enlarged liver or bowel issue. Had a normal pelvic exam just 3 weeks ago so doubt that. And would have thought a liver or bowel problem would have got worse in 3/4 months. I have put on a lot weight recently after getting an implant fitted. Hopefully GP can reassure me a bit. It confuses me mosr thst I have to stretch musclss out to feel it properly and then after I prod it whole side aches for a bit. Will mention to GP asap. I have health anxiety issues so am terrified of any sort of illness at all :(

I wouldn't self diagnose on here and bury your head in the sand though.

Lumps and bumps, though usually turn out to be harmless, need checking by a doctor. Time is of the essence with things like this, please see your gp.

Health anxiety is really horrible, and you have my sympathy, but your body doesn't take that onboard and cut you some slack. 💐💐💐

I know, I wish it would - I already have suspected endometriosis, an ovarian cyst, adhesions, IBS, interstitial cystitis and other bladder problems, plus dyspraxia and a whole host of MH issues. I wish it would learn to do something right for a change, particularly in my tummy and pelvis.

I know it needs seen. I'm seeing a specialist women's health physio on4 Tuesday so will ask her what she thinks, presumably she'll know a hernia when she feels one, and I'll try to make a GP appt too - easier said than done when they v v rarely answer the phone (can take up to 4 hours of ringing for an answer!) but will try.

I had actually forgotten it existed. Or rather I think it disappeared for a while. Last time I remember noticing it was just before or just after Christmas. I sometimes jab myself in tummy with my keys when v anxious which is a Bad Thing as end up bruised. I was looking at those bruises when felt the lump again. I did wonder if it could be a fat necrosis from that. No idea though. I wish there was a way of knowing today!
