2 week old baby with thrush

Ds2 is just over 2 weeks old and has what looks like thrush in his mouth-his tongue has a white coating near the back and he's not as keen to take his bottles, and seems to "pull faces" when I put the bottle in his mouth.
Does anyone know what I can give him to clear it up,or will it mean a trip to the gp's?
I think I remember an old hv telling me Glycerine was a good remedy and I do have some in the house, but obviously don't want to use it unless it's safe to do so.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Tia.

don't know tbh. i would personally go to see doc not sure what else to say sorry but hope he feels better soon x

I would definately go to the gp, my dd had this when she was about the same age and had to have 2 different sorts of medication before it cleared up. Not worth trying to guess what's best...

Thanks.
Think I might ask the pharmacist tomorrow what he suggests, seeing as the surgery is now closed til Tuesday.

My ds (11 wks) has oral thrush, and indeed it looks like a white coating on the back of the tongue, he also became more difficult to feed when this developed. My advice is definately get a confirmed diagnosis from your GP, but in the mean time you could see the pharmacist and discuss purchasing (in lieu of a prescription) a tube of daktari, appro £4. It is a gel that gets applied to the area twice a day with your finger (but i use a dummy!) and is suitable for newborns. The other treeatment is a liquid called nystatin which is given 4 times a day but you need to keep sterilising the spoon - very time consuming - good luck!

Yes, it was daktarin that finally cleared it up for my dd, the nystatin was useless!!

Thanks very much-think I'll send dh to the chemist after work today.
ds2 only slept for about an hour last night,so I think it's starting to bother him, although now I'm not so sure it is thrush.Have Googled oral thrush which says babies usually also get it inside the mouth at the sides aswell as the tongue.Ds2 only has it on his tongue,so it could just be a build up of milk.
