DD has been having runny nappies for a few days. she is teething , and has snotty nose and generaly whinginess

but today has been priceless....4 nappies. pure liquid yellow poo

the sort that soaks up and down their back and legs, into their clothes and smells eviiil!!

so , she is not eating, quelle surprise, and is managing on milk

BUT I know you are not supposed to give milk when they had diaorrhea, but she is not ill, she is teething, does that make a difference?

if i stop giving her milk, she will be having nothing.....

she is 21 months, i am all of a tizz!

Aw poor lulu - if all she will drink is milk, just carry on.

i think its only when they have a tummy bug isn't it?

fryalot · 04/05/2007 17:02

When they have a tummy bug, their stomachs cannot process the milk... if she is teething, then I am sure that it is ok to give her milk.

good luck with those nappy changes

Whoooosh · 04/05/2007 17:03

Just keep going-anything to keep her happy IMO when teething.

Good luck.

My 2yr old seems to have been teething since 6mts!

lulumama · 04/05/2007 17:05

thanks all!!

she will not eat not a jot, not even her favourites

she is sat the sofa, with her blanket, practising her best pathetic look!!

so, milk is ok, we think?

lulumama - you are too rude!
sorry no advice but hope dd gets better soon

rabbleraiser · 04/05/2007 17:08

I didn't know that about milk and diaorrhea, Lulu.

My ds is nearly 2 1/2 and I still get days like you describe, when the poo is everywhere, bright yellow, etc. It passes (if you'll pardon the pun), so I'd just continue with milk for now, if that's what she wants.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 04/05/2007 17:15

Oh Lulu [manly pat on shoulder]

If it has been going on a few days I wouldn't cut out the milk. Hope minilulu feels better soon

lulumama · 04/05/2007 17:16

thanks

yes , when they have D&V, no milk rule applies...

DH on his way home, have told him to stop off for more nappies and wipes...twill be a loooong weekend

Lulu had one like taht trouble is she was in a Leap Frog play station (a thing similar to a walker but it dosnt move has a base in it)

Poo down the legs up the back, and the base was FULL OF POO, so she was standing in it!

lulumama · 04/05/2007 17:26

oh , that is awful !!!!!

last nappy change, the poo ran out and filled the channelled edge of the changing mat!

my life is one glamour filled event after the other!!

Shoshable · 04/05/2007 17:28

Lulu when it happened DH had just walked in and said 'you have such a joyful life' and ran

whomovedmychocolate · 04/05/2007 17:30

Ooh been there. So lovely. Always seems to happen to us when we are out and by the time she's noticed and yells it's up in the carseat and by her neck.

Oh and the no milk thing only applies to cows milk not bm (obviously) but the reason for it is that when you have D&V you lose your natural gut bacteria so kids tend to get lactose intolerance for a week or so afterwards which can kick things off again.

I find just popping DD under the shower and shovelling the clothes into a nappy bucket and directly into the washing machine helps. Because then you don't have to do anything but encourage her to sit in the shower.

I once washed the cat at the same time

lulumama · 04/05/2007 17:33

she was on my knee

i am now covered in yellow stinking poo

am not pleased

need to get my baby leeks in the oven

thanks for the sympathy and horrific poo stories !!

DD;s worst one was last year, when she pooed like this , and i was sat waiting for DH somewhere, and no nappy changing place, the poo was up her back, down her legs, and she was on my knee, with the poo soaking through my clothes onto my skin!

when it gets in the fold of their neck, it is heave-worthy!

OP posts:
NoodleStroodle · 04/05/2007 17:34

Careful not to get baby & baby leeks confused and put the wrong one inn the oven!

fryalot · 04/05/2007 17:35

if it makes you feel any better - when ds had a tummy bug last week, upon changing a very very runny nappy, the nappy caught on his foot and sort of twanged.

poo all over my face

go on, laugh at me

NoodleStroodle · 04/05/2007 17:37

Yuck squonk.
My DC are all grown up so I can laugh at you all . I hated it when the poo shot up their back and into their hair. That was quite unnecessary.

Shoshable · 04/05/2007 17:37

PMSL Squonk, had some horrendous Poo encounters in 26 years but never that!

LL what quarters are you in, we have 1 toilet and the smallest hand basin you have ever seen!!!!

MKG · 04/05/2007 17:44

When ds was 6 weeks he got his first bout of diarrhea, I don't know how but while changing him literally flew off the changing table. It was like a gunshot.

Just laugh it off.
