I trod on it, it got my big toe. Hurts like hell any ideas? I got the sting out but the tin of sting spray I had was yonks out of date.

Lasonil cream from Boots is very good for insect bites/stings etc. If it starts swelling or you have any reaction then a hayfever tablet (Piriton) would help any allergic reaction, but sounds like it's just a normal horrible sting!

I got stung by a bee last year, on my shoulder, & I really sympathise. It does get better within a couple of hours though that probably isn't much help to you at the moment. The only thing that made me feel slightly better was that at least it was me & not ds who'd been stung.

Thanks all, will try the baking soda thing as I dont think I could drive the car to Boots at the mo. I `ve forced my boys to come in from their jungle game and put on sandles. I now have 2 cross boys, evidentally Jungle boys dont wear sandles!

I'm not sure of the correct way round, but I know that lemon juice works for bees or wasp stings and vinegar works for the other!
I'd try both and see what works (and let me know so I can get it right next time!)
Also, when removing the sting, you have to use your nail to scrape it rather than pinching it to get it out as you are squeezing the poison in by pinching it.
Hope it stops hurting soon

Vinegar is good as well.
