Chest infection.. when to go back to the docs?

I've had a chest infection for about 5 days. I've been taking amoxicillin for 4 days. I have asthma.

Ive had two days off of work and I need to go in tomorrow. I work somewhere with a door wide open and me stood within a few metres of it. The weather is obviously bitterly cold. I wear a t-shirt and a jumper.
It's physical work and l'll be on my feet for 6 hours. There's also a chance I'll be wet through for a lot of the time ( random info but I don't want to say more).

I need to go in. I feel a little better, but the infection was very low in my lungs and I'm panicking about complications. I'm still coughing (sporadically) and still breathless on walking. I'm also light headed and not feeling myself.

Do I need to see a doctor again ( and the nurse practitioner told me to give it 48 hrs, it's been 24 ish) or I am worrying over nothing?
I can't go anywhere lol snow is deep on the ground. I also can't move very well due to pain the my ribs and bum ( I'm guessing from coughing!)

I'm just looking for some reassurance if anyone has been in the same position?
:-)

When I had a chest infection (bottom of lung too). It took about 3 days for the antibiotics at kick in (I'd already been ill for a week) . So it can take a few days for them to start to work. If there's no improvement you would need to go back to the docs and they may need to switch you to a different type.

Sometimes it's just time and rest to get better. Chest infections can really knock you out. I know you say you have to go in to work but it really wouldn't be a good idea to be doing physical work where you get cold and wet, it could really set you back further. You can't mess about with chest infections at the bottom of the lung..

Hope you feel better soon.

Exactly this time last year I had a chest infection for 3 weeks, a couple of changes of antibiotics and when I went back to work 3 weeks later I still wasn't myself. Don't go back until you're better, or it could take a lot longer to recover. I was still coughing up phlegm in July.... please rest OP

Thank you both. Still feeling rubbish. I went to work ( too worried not to). It seems so much worse in the evening.
I'll see how I feel tomorrow and ring the doctor's again.
Thank you again.

I forgot the phone the bloody doctors ( my stupid phone hasn't worked all day so had a backlog of gossip to get through and forgot the docs until it was two late!). I've got one day left of amoxicillin. Still coughing up some vile green stuff, huffing and puffing and generally not feeling a 100%.

Struggled to get the receptionist to understand my need for another Ventolin inhaler when I rang the other day ( and yes I was meant to ring back and check the doctor's had authorised it!). Obviously me rationing it and not being able to breath properly aren't valid reason.
Sick of moaning, sick of coughing. Roll on summer!
