Tooth root in sinus

Has anyone had this?
I broke my 3rd molar and went to have it removed. The dentist did an X-ray and said the root of my tooth is in my sinus and if the tooth is removed it could perforate my sinus and cause oro-antral communication. I have a 7 month old and 7 year old child to look after so obviously I can't have anything make me incapable of doing that.
Has anyone had this happen or taken the risk of having it done and been fine? I definitely didn't ask enough questions at the dentist. Should add I'm in no pain with it at the moment as I think the tooth has died.

Yes had a tooth removed and it was fine. No more painful and took no longer to heal.

That's good to hear, thank you. Did it perforate your sinus or was it left undamaged? I'm a bit worried as she said food and drink can get into my sinus!

Youo'll probably be referred to have it removed at a dental hospital or specialist dentist. DD2 had this when getting braces and it was done at the dental hospital with no problems. apart from her mother needing more medical attention than DD2 because of her dental phobia and the need for holding DD's hand

Apparently they don't refer you to have it taken out as our hospital refuses to do it, they'll only look at you if something goes wrong. Tbh I'd rather be put under general anaesthetic. The local anaesthetic makes my heart race which isn't great when it's already around 110bpm resting anyway and I had lock jaw for 3 weeks after dental work last time!! It wasn't even extensive work

Sinus just closed itself up. I was told I could refer to local large dental hospital and have it done there but 6 month + wait and already referred for 2 other things so just took the risk and it's been fine.

i had a top tooth that developed an abscess and i gather the distance from the tooth to the sinuses cavity is very little. i got the impression this was normal. removal was completed without complications at the office.

Local anaesthetic used to make my heart race too OP. My dentist explained that it contains adrenaline (to make it work quicker I think)

Now if I have to have a local my dentist gives me one without adrenaline and it's fine.

Thanks @BishopstonFaffing that makes me feel much better
@Ivebeenaroundtheblock apparently my root of mine is actually inside the sinus which is greater risk according to the dentist
@MaireadMacSweeney I didn't know that existed!! I'll ask for that when I go back, thank you

I had a molar die and multiple roots were taken out via root canal surgery. One of the roots was in sinus and dentist didn't even comment on it iirc. I have the same problem with adrenalin injections and tried without adrenalin to start with, but it wasn't anaesthetising enough so I had to have the proper stuff. It was fine actually, nowhere near as bad as I feared.

My husband had his removed under general. He was a bit sore for a few days but was ok otherwise

Thanks!! Seems like I'm making a fuss over nothing. Just didn't want to be out of action with the kids, it's just annoying as it's not giving me any pain now and it might cause problems after so it seems like a bad idea but it'll have to come out at some point anyway
