Concussion without Banging Head?

I was just wondering if this was possible? I was running on Friday and tripped up. The next thing I knew I was on the ground. I have no recollection whatsoever of falling over. It must have been 20 seconds maximum that I was out for (wearing running watch). I sat up and gathered my thoughts then continued the remaining mile to my house with a bloody knee and arm! I tripped oversomething, and didn't faint (am 99% sure) as there was hidden wires across the path (to deter people using it, but public path - this is another story!).

I went to OOH yesterday to get checked over, I feel fine.

However this amnesia is unsettling me. I can't remember the fall at all. I don't have any lumps, bumps or sore bits on my head at all. Just sore arms and very swollen knee. I was running downhill so there would have been some speed/impact associated with the fall.

Just wondering if anyone had any wise words? I know to look out for headaches/vision/speech issues in coming weeks.

Thanks in advance
TOOIK

Yes, totally possible.
My oh had a ski accident, he dislocated his shoulder, wasn't checked for anything else and didn't hit his head.
He had no memory of crashing but kept getting headaches. After a few weeks we discovered he had a bleed in the head caused by the fall. It was like a shaken baby syndrome, with no mark on his head whatsoever, not a slightest scratch or bruise.

Hopefully yours won't be anywhere near as serious.

Thanks @glassheart1 is he ok now? I am concerned as was running quite fast downhill at the time. How soon after did the headaches appear?

He is fine now.
Initially no one considered checking his head at all, he was on painkillers for his shoulder so it wasn't obvious perhaps what was hurting.

He had thought he was recovering ok but I noticed he was becoming quite clumsy and unsteady, again, we were putting it down to slow recovery (his shoulder was black and blue and all later all shades of purple).

I'd say perhaps it was after 3 weeks when he mentioned headaches but took another 3 weeks before he agreed to go to a&e (men!).

My understanding is that the bleed was still increasing and thats why the headaches were becoming unbearable. He had no tingling or numbness, just clumsiness.

After the surgery he couldn't drive for 6 months but made a complete recovery.

He still can't remember the accident nor the fact he was getting unsteady after the accident (ie before the surgery).

Fingers crossed yours in no more than a light concussion x

Thanks @glassheart1. I was at the end of a 19 mile run (training for a marathon). I had my head checked in hospital and it all seemed fine but as you say symptoms can manifest themselves in the weeks afterwards. I am trying not to fret about it! I hit my knee and elbow hard - they are all swollen but not a mark on me otherwise. Just wish I could remember how I fell! Maybe I passed out with shock, I have no idea! All so unexpected.

Glad your DH has recovered well and has fully recovered.
