Just go and get Ovex (?) from the chemist, treat the whole family and see if that cures it.

look up threadworms and treatment

night time anus inspection with torch I think

the eating is probably just a phase thing .. DS eats like a horse too

Twiglett · 03/05/2007 10:46

thought Ovex was a one-dose only pill

foxinsocks · 03/05/2007 10:47

the second dose catches any that they may have reinfected themselves with in the meantime iyswim (as it kills the worms not the eggs I think)

Twiglett · 03/05/2007 10:49

so does the morning bottom washing continue for an additional 2 weeks after 2nd dose?

MrsBigD · 03/05/2007 11:21

so bum inspection tonight it will be... eugh

Not wanting more sweets than usual

As she has an itcy bottom it prob is worms, but,it is completely untrue that being really hungry, eating lots and not putting on weight is a sign of worms.

foxinsocks · 03/05/2007 11:33

no, I normally stop after the 2nd dose (but continue between dose 1 and 2).

i think being hungry is tapeworms not threadworms

agree with soupy

buy ovex and dose everyone

cut fingernails

keep bottoms and hands clean for as long as possible

change the sand in your sandpit (the most common hiding place for worm eggs )

foxinsocks · 03/05/2007 11:45

yes, agree re sandpit (and tell them at nursery if they have one there)

also, clean the door handles at home

mankyscotslass · 03/05/2007 12:22

And chuck out the play doh, and change toothbrushes, and clean like a madwoman.......

MrsBigD · 03/05/2007 13:14

oh dear oh dear does it really involve a cleaning frenzy? Keep hands clean for as long as possible might be a challenge with our 2.5 year old!

I know, i am in the middle of a worm outbreak and i have a rising 5, a 3 1/2 year old and an 18 mths old...Total nightmare, plus i am still breastfeeding him so have to take prpsen...grrr. I have hoovered every day for the last week, we are due second lot of meds next wendesday. DH is on bottom washing duty in the mornings, but ds regards hand weashing as a waste of playing time and it is a constant battle. THe baby is a nightmare to try and cut his nails too. Also been wet dusting every day, and changing bedding as often as possible I am officially EXHAUSTED.

MrsBigD · 03/05/2007 15:04
