It's so horrible to see them like that.
DS1 was the same when he was very young.
Has grown out of it, more or less, now - thank goodness.
Olive oil used to work really well on his arms.
Hope she's better soon.

kittypants · 02/05/2007 23:21

poor you and your dd.both my ds have it.6 year old worse than 16 month old.we use dream cream from lush as seems the only thing that works on him.and piriton.it must be awful for them.i hate summer as all the suncreams effect it,but winters same as wellies make it bad too!plus any change in weather!gggrr

misdee · 02/05/2007 23:21

sorry x posts

misdee · 02/05/2007 23:25

wetwrapping irritates her skin more, she is currently on balneum bath oil, aveeno cream and hydrocortsione ointment, am hoping she doesnt start to have allergic reactions to this treatment after a while like she did with the others.

misdee, have you ever considered homeopathy? I am npo expert on it by any means, but I know a couple of peopel who have had really good results with it.
plus, it can't hurt if traditional remedies aren't helping that much

SNOWBall4girlz · 02/05/2007 23:26

mine are 6 4 and 2 on friday
my 13 yr has all but grown out of it
I never did I have all the allergies etc
sat here b/f dd4 got to help ?!!

three littlest are ok up to know touch wood

SNOWBall4girlz · 02/05/2007 23:29

what about wheat free?
aveno is supposed to be the best my niece is really bad and aveeno is the only thing that helps
when I was really bad last time I got prescribed zinc oxide impregnated bandages that I put in the fridge first

my face is the worse I rub it in my sleep

misdee · 02/05/2007 23:29

hairy, i have but cant investigate it further atm, too much on. sounds awful, but have so many appointments already to keep up with.

4girlz, breastfed dd3 till 2 weeks ago, her skin has really flared up a lot this past week, but has had viral rash and heat rash as well which isnt helping.

misdee · 02/05/2007 23:30

we've done diets before. didnt help her. she is a generally stopic child. if she has food colourings then her skin, asthma and allergies get worse. I think the grass was cut at school today and she played on the field afterwards, so may be because of this.

OP posts:
misdee · 02/05/2007 23:31

stopic/atopic.

OP posts:
hairymclary · 02/05/2007 23:32

yes, I was reading today how so many additives and things in food have been linked to skin conditions and asthma. scary that they're allowed in food at all really

SNOWBall4girlz · 02/05/2007 23:33

sorry to hear that the poor little thing

does the warm weather irritate it too?

horrible horrible thing ecezma I have had it all my life since i was a tiny baby

misdee · 02/05/2007 23:36

the worst culprit is orange food colourings. i am a right fussy mum at parties and have to inspect everything before hand or else send in a packed lunch. so many foods have colourings in. and though it wont kill her it does make her so miserable and suffer.

OP posts:
misdee · 02/05/2007 23:36

yes warm weather is a pain, but then so is cold weather.

OP posts:
SNOWBall4girlz · 02/05/2007 23:52

it seems you can not win with ecezma in cold weather it makes it worse going from central heating to outside
in warm its the sweating and humidity
rotten disease

misdee · 02/05/2007 23:58

cant win at all.

had added pic of dd1 to profile, have to remind myself of how smiley she is when her skin is good.
