In tears with pain. Results normal

Have been suffering on and off over a year with kidney and urethra pain.
I've had ultrasound and ct scan both normal. Urine always normal.
The pain is now so bad that it hurts to move around. When I strain to do a number 2 I get a horrible pain in my urethra tubes.

My temperature is normal.
Everything is normal apart from this horrible pain.
I've just been to the doctors who want to order scans of my ovaries but I know the pain is from my kidneys and urethra. My periods are normal.
I'm thinking of going to a and e because I need something for the pain and quicker answers. I can't go another two weeks to a month waiting on another scan.
What the hell could this be.
No stones showed on either scan either.

I'm sorry for the horrible time you are going through. Out of interest, how do you know it is your kidneys and urethra?

Ivebeenaroundtheblock · 20/02/2018 15:33

Ureters or uretha?

Introvertpants · 20/02/2018 15:44

I can just feel it. Get twinges in my kidney at my back and feel pain down my tubes and I also get twinges when I pee. It just feels odd for it to be anything else.

The amount of people I’ve had come into a&e with ‘Kidney pain’ when it’s been no where near the kidneys is funny really... I think you should take your GPS advice and have further investigation. They’ve tested what you think it is and it’s clear, therefore they’re moving onto other options. Oh and going to A&E won’t get you any faster diagnosis as you are already under investigation and there is no quick answer or fix.

Witchend · 20/02/2018 16:24

Sometimes you can get referred pain, I think it's called.
I know someone who went in to the Gp with agonising pain in his nose and it turned out to be tooth ache.
My dd was rushed to hospital with pneumonia, diagnosed from a shoulder ache.
Take any investigations they think are reasonable.

I think its worth having a gynae scan. I am having similar symptoms and awaiting cystoscopy, ultrasound normal for bladder / kidneys except enlarged bladder wall but closing urethra found on urodynamics tests. A ct scan should rule of kidney stones.

My gynae scan has shown fibroids but it is painfully long process via NHS, I was referred to hospital in September and they will still be testing for months, now at 3 hospitals. Only way to speed up is to go private. Have you had a kidney blood test? Mine showed high CE.

I'm not an expert but this might be a possibility:

I had a really bad tooth ache in my top tooth and the dentist filled the bottom tooth and the pain is gone, she told me the nerves can be strange and sometimes it’s not possible to pinpoint exactly what is causing the pain.

When my daughter gets badly constipated it has caused a kidney problem.

your pain sounds absolutely awful, but what I’m trying to say is that I think you should be more open minded as to what is causing your pain.

I hope you get some answers and relief really soon. Good luck x

Well out of hours Dr sent me to a and e. Bloods normal and urine normal. Glucose very high, heart rate too high and blood pressure and slight temlerature. So I've to come in for tests today for diabetes and to see surgical team about pain so I have no idea what it could be.

I hope you get some answers and some help today. Mind yourself.

Update I don't have diabetes.
They have gave me stuff for ibs and strong pal killers.
I'm sat at home rocking with pain it's awful. Ibs stuff hasn't touched it.
I have severe pain when trying to open my bowels. My whole lower abdomen hurts but especially at my right side. I took a laxative and nothing is shifting. Pain is a lot worse and I feel unwell.
Scared to go back because nobody knows what to do with me although I've been told to make appt with gp to make referal to gastroenterologist.
I'm starting to think it's a bit more than ibs.
They haven't done a pelvic scan just gallbladder.

Did they check your appendix? I'm not an expert but only symptom my Dad had of that was massive pain. Maybe phone out of hours doctor and see what they can do.

Foodylicious · 21/02/2018 21:14

From reading your first posts I wondered if it might be IBS.

It is awful and bad flair ups can leave you in crippling pain.

I am saying this to reassure you that it probably isn't anything more serious or sinister.

When mine is bad I get a variety of pains, some of which feel like a knitting needing it stabbing me, the pain can move across my abdomen and/or up and down my back.
It can be sore to make even small position changes.

Things that help me are lying on the bed in child's pose, rocking side to side a bit.
Alternating which side I lie on as it help the gas move about and having a really deep bath. The weightlessness seems to help the gas move about.

The only meds I've had have been buscopan. I do find it helpful, but if your bowel has been in spasm for a while it's can take a bit to settle.

I have been checked for celiac and IBD and clear for both.

So physically my bowel is fine, it just doesn't always function as it should.

Have they given you info about fodmap?

3luckystars · 21/02/2018 22:36

Do not be afraid to go back! They don’t actually know what is wrong with you so if you still in pain then you should go back!

It could be anything.

EllenRipley · 21/02/2018 22:49

I would go for the gynae referral, it could very possibly be endometriosis or some other gynae condition. Have they actually had a look inside your bladder rather than just a scan? It's possible to have 'biofilm' infections that don't get picked up on normal urine testing, I think this can also cause interstitial cystitis. I hope you get some answers x
