Prolonged heavy period & no end in sight - PCOS related

MyBodyHatesMe · 16/02/2018 22:07

I have had trouble for years with PCOS and the nightmare periods that has come with it. At the moment I feel as if my body hates me and that there is no end in sight.
I have had heavy bleeding/flooding for 55 days now and I have been referred to a gynaecologist for it. I was due to have a 'Nova-Sure' ablation procedure done soon, only today I have been called back to the hospital due to anaemia and low white blood cell count on my blood tests. This now means that I can't have the ablation to stop the heavy periods until my anaemia & white blood cell count is resolved. Funnily (not funny at all) enough the blood problems are caused by the heavy bleeding, so I'm stuck in a viscous circle.
I have been taking iron tablets & tranexamic acid tablets for a couple of months, without any let up in the bleeding. I'm now feeling hopeless about it all.

Thanks OP, because PCOS is crap.

I don't have any useful advice - I would be tempted to go back to the go and basically just push for any other option.

Also google - you might find something you can suggest to your GP.

I had PCOS and fibroid tumours caused the heavy bleeding.

Oh op, I’m sorry your ablation was cancelled. That’s crap 💐

I have PCOS, and had a hysterectomy a year ago due to crazy long periods and no let up from them.

Hope you’re able to get it sorted soon.

I would think that PCOS is not the actual cause of your prolonged bleeding. Something else is causing the bleeding, have you ever been examined to see if fibroids are present.

I would return to the GP and request a gynae referral. What has been tried to date has not worked and you are now anaemic also.

I was seen by the gynaecologist yesterday, who had the results of my blood tests. They are not willing to do anything until my white blood cell count is higher due to risk of infection. It's not as if going private vs NHS would be any better, as this was through going private.
