What's wrong with me????

Please help me, I posted the other day but only one person responded and I'm getting worse, it's making me very emotional and fed up. I've got another appointment with the GP this afternoon but I fear they're going to send me away non to wiser to spend another weekend in bed feeling terrible.

I had a laparoscopy and mirena coil fitted 9 days ago under general anaesthetic and although my wounds are healing well and have no pain at all from the coil I'm completely washed out, feeling dizzy and I'm having massive palpitations in my head and chest. I passed out on Tuesday morning from the exertion of getting dressed.
Ive also had pressure feeling in my head since the opp (but no headache) but I've developed a headache today and I've suddenly just lost the hearing in my right ear!

I have 2 young DC that I'm struggling to take care of and I'm feeling like an awful mother as I have no energy to get out of bed, let alone look after them.

Does anyone have ANY ideas? I no longer believe it's just the anaesthetic as I'm deteriorating, could it be the coil? or do you think it's a massive coincidence and it's something else completely?

Thank you so much for reading

You poor thing, the first thing that sprung to mind was that your electrolytes maybe completely out of whack after the anasthetic. Can you get hold of some serious grade electrolyte replacement stuff and take that. I think it sometimes comes in a powder you mix wth water. Also, if it doesn’t include magnesium, take 100 % recommended intake of that for at least a week. Lack of magnesium causes palpitations.

Also do you have a temperature? If you do, call 111

SeaToSki · 16/02/2018 19:59

I did a bit of research and your symptoms are consistent with risk for a blood clot in your lungs, which does happen after surgery. Please call 111 or go down to A and E and be assessed for a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in your lungs)

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 16/02/2018 20:04

Hopefully your GP was able to help.

How are you now?

If you're still having these symptoms and your GP didn't help then please call 111 for advice.

RumbleMum · 16/02/2018 22:17

So sorry to hear you're feeling like this. Have you got a way of checking your blood pressure? I feel like this when it's very low.

whoscoat · 17/02/2018 22:10

Thank you so much for responding everyone. I went back to the GP yesterday and she gave me some prochlorperazine for the dizziness, amoxicillin in case it's a sinus infection and sleeping tablets.

I've been on everything for a good 24 hours now and I feel terrible, the pain in my sinuses is excruciating, paracetamol and ibuprofen isn't touching it.

My blood pressure is fine and all the blood test came back normal. I haven't got or had a temperature and I don't feel fluey, just dizzy, fatigued, in pain so I'm not worry about sepsis but the pain is now getting worse and I'm not sure how to get through the weekend. The GP has booked me an appointment for Monday but I'm not sure what she can do that she didn't do yesterday Sad

SeaToSki, what do you mean about electrolytes? I've never heard of that before? Where would I get the mixtures you've mentioned?

OP posts:
WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 17/02/2018 22:14

Are your sinuses blocked? Would lots of steam and Olbas oil or Vicks help a bit to decongest? Lots of people seem to recommend avoiding dairy if you've got lots of mucus.

I hope you start to feel better soon. It normally takes a couple of days for antibiotics to have an effect so hopefully you'll start to see an improvement over the weekend Flowers

Is there someone who can look after the children so you can rest as much as possible?

Jon66 · 17/02/2018 22:17

Go to a n e and get checked over, if ok at least they can give you tramadol or other painkillers.

whoscoat · 17/02/2018 22:22

The pain is definitely in my sinuses but I haven't got any mucus and breathing clearly.

My DH is here and looking after the DC over the weekend, he's doing his best but he's struggling a bit.

I'm extremely reluctant to go to a and e on a Saturday night, especially as I saw a gp yesterday. I'll sit down there for hours and it will just be a waste of everyone's time I know it. Thank you everyone for your help Thanks

Did you have a D Dimer blood test? It’s not exactly the same but some of your symptoms match mine when I had a Pulmonary Embolism as a pp suggested. Did the doctor mention this? If it is a clot, it is an A&E job. I get that it is a rubbish day to go, but unless the doctor considered it, and ruled it out via thorough investigation, you should go. Take care.

whoscoat · 17/02/2018 22:43

I've just had a look online at symptoms of a blood clot and I don't think I fit, I haven't got chest pain and no racing heart rate, I really think the dizziness is due to my sinuses. I don't know what bloods the GP took, she just said they were all normal and I didn't question her.

Would the coil do something that irritates my sinuses? It all just seems really odd? Going to a and e would be tricky anyway as we don't have any local family to take me or sit with the kids, I honestly don't feel that I'm an emergency and would just be at the bottom of the triage list

Poor you, it sounds grim. Sinuses are a nightmare, and can be so painful, even without clear breathing and no snot.

I tried a sinus rinse for the first time in desperation a few months ago and it really helped relieve the pain. NeilMed is the brand and you can get it at Boots - comes with sachets of salts to mix with cooled boiled water and full instructions. I watched some videos on YouTube before us did it, just to get my nerve up.

Hope you feel better soon.

sadie9 · 18/02/2018 10:59

The dehyradation stuff is called Dioralyte, it comes in sachets. But you shouldn't need it unless you had diarrhea etc. It sounds like your sinus infection happened to occur the same time as getting your coil in. So the two are unrelated most likely. Make sure you eat and drink normally and hopefully you will see an improvement in the next day or so.

whoscoat · 18/02/2018 11:40

Thank you sadie9, I've been drinking lots (and peeing well, sorry if TMI) DH has been making me berocca's so I'm hoping that does a similar thing.

I've been doing a bit of googling, pregnancy hormones can inflame the sinuses, I remember having nose bleeds and snoring while pregnant. I wonder whether the hormones in the coil have done this to me? My sinuses have been sensitive recently, I was prescribed a steroid nasal spray a few months ago as I got sinusitis every time I got a cold. The sparky had been keeping things at bay so I wonder if the progesterone has tipped things over the edge?
Im not in so much pain today (still got all other symptoms) I've taken some amandine extra which maybe what's working on the pain.

I'm seeing the GP tomorrow so I'm going to push for a referral to ENT as I think it makes more sense to see why my sinuses are so sensitive rather than removing the coil of that makes sense?

Thank you so much for all your help everyone Thanks

*spray not sparky obviously

Will see if I can get some of that rinse little0miss0mac, worth a try!
Thank you x

Do not take more than one Berocca a day!

If you've been doing this, stop!

whoscoat · 18/02/2018 12:07

Don't worry I'm only having one berocca a day max, I'm not really a sweet/fizzy drinks person so I couldn't stomach more than this at the best of times (it takes me pretty much a whole day to drink one in between sipping water)

OP posts:
Evizza · 18/02/2018 13:54

Years back I needed a few operations within a 12 month period and every time, following general anaesthetic, I ended up with agonising sinusitis. I never had a cold or blocked nose before hand... very strange x

TammySwansonTwo · 18/02/2018 13:58

After one of my laps I woke up with one of my eyes insanely swollen. I thought they’d injuref me while I was under but no - it was my sinuses. Then came the headaches and the awful smell. I think it was from where they inserted tubes for breathing etc. I found that a sinus rinse and sudafed (the actual pseudoephedrine stuff) helped while I waited for the antibiotics to work. sadly I’m now prone to sinus infections.

FuckingHateRain · 18/02/2018 14:11

Do not take more than one Berocca a day!
If you've been doing this, stop!
Why?

whoscoat · 18/02/2018 15:58

Wow that's really interesting what you've all said about painful sinuses after a GA, the GP said that maybe all the tubes/oxygen they use had irritated things. Thanks for sharing.

I also wondered why not we shouldn't have more than one Berocca a day FuckingHateRain
