Late thirties, one 3 year old daughter, one dh who completely adores her.
She was fine when I saw her last week, but complaining of headaches

What a horrible shock for everyone affected. Thinking of your friend, her fmaily and all those praying for her to pull through.

PollyLogos · 02/05/2007 12:01

Sounds awful pph and very sudden.

Hoping for the very best outcome for your friend

PrincessPeaHead · 02/05/2007 12:03

we are all very lucky

How hideous, pph, SO sorry to hear about your friend. Such a ghastly disease. Fingers and toes crossed that the prognosis is a good one.

suedonim · 02/05/2007 17:22

Am hoping it will turn out to be the last option, Pph.

PrincessPeaHead · 02/05/2007 17:23

PeachyChocolateEClair · 02/05/2007 17:28

The same thing happened to my mates friend as wella fortnight ago- the surgery was immediate and successful, although shadow doesn't sound too good .

Peoples chanes improve every day PPH, don't give up hope yet.

The macmillan cancer support webiste is great and full of information if that turns out to be what it is (it could feasibly be a non-cancerous tumour and a shadow for some other reason

PPH I've got a friend in her early thirties who has recently being diagnosed with grade 3 brain cancer. I know what you are going through.

noddyholder · 02/05/2007 17:56

pph I had a vulval tumour removed 5 yrs ago and at the same time they found a large lesion on the cervix and removed tthat. The oncologist though that the likelihood of it having spread at least to the whole vagina(sorry all)and possibly bladder was high but when it was removed it was encapsulated(sp?) and the cervical was was removed completely. They were amazed that it had not spread as I had it 9 yrs!Never give up hope I had my check up today and he said that I am in the best shape ever in terms of the cancer coming back.I hope it is good news for your friend she is really going to need you at a time like this xx

pph - I am sorry to hear this.

My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer and brain mets 4 1/2 years ago, and is still going strong. Advances in lung cancer treatment are really picking up now. If your friend is otherwise healthy and relatively young, she might be in with a good chance.

hippipotami · 02/05/2007 18:43

I am really sorry to hear this. One of our friends was diagnosed with a massive braintumour following months of headaches. It was removed and he has to take medication for the rest of his life, and annual scans to check for re-growth. But despite initial fears and a bleak prognosis, he is now absolutely fine.
Treatments are improving all the time.

I hope for your friend the outcome of the surgery is good.

Will keep everything crossed for her.

Stay strong.

PrincessPeaHead · 02/05/2007 19:05

wow noddy that is amazing. how wonderful, that gives me hope. as does your mum rowan and your mate Hipp - my friend is incredibly healthy, never smoked, a real outdoors girl. which makes me wonder where a lung primary would have come from? but so good to hear how well your mum is doing
radley - it sucks, doesn't it.

Will pray PPH. May I link this to the Christian prayer thread?

PeachyChocolateEClair · 02/05/2007 19:10

Ok for positive stories here's one (with a bit of sadness at the start sorry but its part)

Three cousins born the same month, I was one (and I'm 33 now). One was dx'd with leaukaemia after a few months, died at 5 years . The day of her funeral, my male cousion was given 2 weeks to live with the same form of leaukaemia-

he's now 30, on his second marriage, expecting his 5th (!!) child and very, very definitely still with us!

never ever give up hope!

PrincessPeaHead · 02/05/2007 19:11

Dreadful news. Just keep being there for her and don't feel awkward around her, she will probably need to talk about it.

CaptainCaveman · 02/05/2007 19:44

pph, praying hard for your friend, her family and all those who love and care for her. Panda has added her to the prayer thread so hundreds of people praying for her right now!
