DD (2.10) has an infection in her labia, anyone any experience?

It doesn't seem to be bothering her but it is producing a discharge. Our GP has referred her to the paediatrician as he thinks it may need treatment with hormone cream that he can't prescribe.

That was over a week ago, we are waiting for the appointment to come through. In the meantime it doesn't seem to be gettin any worse but it isn't getting better either. We are cleaning it with boiled cooled water (when she'll let us) and slathering her with antiseptic cream at the advice of the GP.

Has anyone out there any idea what it is? Should I be going back to the GP?

(happily I resisted the urge to put the title as "My poor dd has fishy fanjo flaps, an anyone help )

Presumably the GP has already tried Canesten or Fucidin?
Sorry to hear this cheesy

He doesn't think it is fungal Marina. It's not in her vagina and it isn't itchy. It's just, well, there.

don't have time to search for you but there was a thread recently about a wee girl who had an infection in her labia (i think) and they'd fused and the hormone cream separated them. it was only a few weeks ago, have a search. i think vagina, labia, steroid, hormone, words like that should find it. good luck.

I would call the gp and say you're concerned, could they speed it up? If you feel you need more ammo you could call NHS direct and they msy say you should go back to the gp to push for an earlier apptm.

Also if you go to your nearest A&E with a paediatric section you could just wait and have her seen if you're very worried.

The other thread is here

This is what she has only her right labia minora is fused against her right labia majora so it isn't causing an obstruction.

I will see if I can speed up her appointment but is seems that the treatment does the trick.
