I had an accident last autumn where I hurt my ankle. It didn’t feel broken so I just let it heal by itself. After three months I went to see gp who referred to physio. By the time I saw physio pain was better but foot wasn’t ok yet. He didn’t know if physio would help but noticed that I have terrible flat foot. He seemed to think off the shelf insoles wouldn’t work so referred to the orthotics to get professionally made insoles.

Anyone experiences about this kind of insoles?

My dd has flat feet and she had privately (Health insurance paid for) orthotics for a few years. A couple of years ago she was suffering as she was on her feet a lot more she went to GP for a referral for nhs orthotics as being over 19 years was no longer covered by my health insurance. She had several appointments and tried at least 4 different supports but was still suffering. Last summer I paid for private orthotics where they took mouldings of her feet and were custom made. These have been much better for her.

Having said that I think it depends on the individual and different things work for different people. I think she would just like an operation (never been suggested!) and for her to get beautiful feet.
