Recurring lumps in neck

userofthiswebsite · 04/02/2018 12:51

I keep getting these lumps underneath my jawbone, not far from my ear. They are there for maybe a week, then they go, and then they come back again?
I don't know if it's worth making a trip to the GP for, certainly not just for that.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks

DS had similar - it was a blocked saliva duct. It was problematic for him as he couldn't swallow when it was bad, but otherwise it wouldn't have been an issue. I'd get it checked by a gp or dentist though

Lymph nodes maybe - they often come up when your immune system is fighting something off.

Swollen lymph nodes, when you’re under the weather have an infection.
Sinister nodes don’t tend to come and go. But see your gp if you’re concerned.

I would def go to the GP.

They are almost always a response to an infection, but I think you should get them checked out if they keep coming back.

You have lymph nodes in that area. Definitely worth getting checked. When lymph nodes are swollen its a sign of something going on with your immune system, so swollen once for a week and then they go down - probably a cold or other virus. Up and down repeatedly, maybe something more serious. Do you notice any tenderness in your armpits or to either side of your pelvic area at the same time? There are more lymph nodes there too.

I've not been sick. I had a cold in September. Since then I've not had any flu or cold or bug.
I did get a load of colds in a row one year back so perhaps already had those viruses that are circulating right now.

It may be your parotid gland, I had a parotidectomy for a benign tumour. Had symptoms similar to you for a long time. ENT referral and then surgery.
