ectopic heartbeats

I’ve been getting these since new year, literally ever time I even vaguely exert myself I’ve have a minute or so afterwards of constant missing beats.

I’ve made myself an appointment at the drs for a week Thursday but it’s so frequent I am wondering if I need to be seen sooner.

Everything I’ve read has said they’re usually harmless but I have a family history of young cardiac problems and have a heart murmur. I do suffer from anxiety but it’s not been too bad recently.

Does anyone have any advice?

Given you family history and your pre existing heart murmur / symptoms I would push for an earlier appointment.
How was the murmur detected and have you ever been seen by a cardiologist?

Missing a heartbeat is not an ectopic heart beat. Ectopic means 'extra'. I have an ectopic heart beat and it means my heart has an extra beat in between the normal one. Have you self diagnosed this?

I don't know how you can 'feel ' a missed beat. But if you already have a heart murmur your GP needs to do some tests like an ECG and send you to a specialist.

My heart beats normally with and extra close beat and then a massive gap! It’s a grim feeling it’s easily felt via my pulse and in my throat, and I can kind of hear it too.

I did see a cardiologist when I was 16, had an echo etc and was told the murmour was benign. That was more than 20 years ago.

see your GP who will do an ECG and /or fit you with a 24 hr heart rate monitor.
