Arthritis remedies

Has anyone tried any natural alternatives to biological drugs and found them successful?

I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis about 15 years ago and was treated successfully with methotrexate for first 5 years and have been drug free for the intervening 9 with 3 drug free successful pregnancies and the odd steroid injection.

Last year following a flare post 3rd pregnancy I was treated with imuran so I could continue to feed but came off it in August as I was symptom free.

My arthritis is flaring a little again but I'm not sure it warrants a new drug with all the awful side effects.
Consultant mentioned one of the newer drugs this time and am due back in 5 weeks.

I have given up alcohol, cleaned up my diet and am loosing weight.

Has anyone tried acupuncture or other alternative treatments or remedies and found them successful?

I use methotrexate for psoriatic arthritis. Have never tried any alternative drugs. I only take it every three three weeks via injection. I’m not sure there are many natural alternatives. Except I feel better in the sun .

Thanks Jojo. Sun certainly does make a difference! Does not feel like we will see any again with the weather at the moment.

No sun at the moment . The psoriatic arthritis makes me feel so tired especially in the winter

Only benefit of winter is being able to wear long sleeves and trousers to cover up!

Methotrexate and Cimzia here. Never seen a convincing account of success with alternative therapies.

:-(

My daughter has had psoriatic and enthesitis related for 15 years. The only thing we have found that works is Biologics.

We had best results on Etanercept and then Infliximab. About 8 years ago she was moved onto Toccaluzimab which was ok too.

We started off with a chiropractor who helped reduce her pain but even he admitted the meds were better.

When on them the did halt the disease process. Anytime we have stoped them she's had a progression in the disease process.

Sorry. I know you're looking for better responses but this is what we found.

Thanks for responses. Will probably be inevitable Fuchs is annoying as I'm largely ok even without paracetamol at the moment.

As I understand it, arthritis is an inflammatory disease. I know people who have had great results from going gluten free, drinking bone broth and taking gelatin/collagen supplements.

Hi, I have recently fallen pregnant, me and my partner are over the moon I am 27 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 14 I am probably at my healthiest now after being on Methotrexate from the age of 14-18 I was so unwell and suffered with horrific migraines which lasted days at a time and it was not worth it as my illness was at its worst then. I finally managed to push my Rheumatology nurse and refused my meds, she then gave me an alternative Etanercept and I haven't had a bed ridden day since! Has anyone ever used this medication through pregnancy? I have read only good things but I need mum's opinions. I have stopped taking it for the last three weeks, I am only 5/6 weeks pregnant but I am in so much pain now and I worry that the illness itself may cause more harm than the medication. Also I have a really busy job with 15hour shifts, so I need my health and my mobility..
Thanks in advance X
