Any ideas what this could be? Arthritis?!

About two weeks ago I woke early with a throbbing pain in my foot. Mainly across the top and worse and I flexed toes. Really quite painful, not particularly swollen. Painful to bear weight on it too. But it was completely gone by dinner time.

Same again this morning (with no pain in the meantime but a similar feeling in my fingers one morning) today it is even more painful and showing no sign of slowing up. Luckily I'm at home so just resting it but going on holiday in a week and planned on lots of walking so starting to get worried. anyone had anything similar or any ideas? I will book into my GP too.

I am 36 and overweight Confused and I don't play sports. If that helps.

I have looked at Gout but there is no swelling and my big toe is the least effected. I saw something about flexing tendonitis as it is worse when flexed.

Also it's not tender to the touch of fingers, bed sheets etc which I have heard Gout can be. It hurts most when I flex my toes forwards.

Could be plantar fasciitis? This is where the ligament that supports your arch is strained. Some people say it's like toothache in your foot!

They used to think plantar faciitis was about the ligament but they now think it’s about micro tears in the connective tissue.
I have this long term. Get yourself some orthopaedic inserts for your shoes from the chemist (boots sell them)
Don’t wear flip flops or bare feet. Always wear good shoes with your inserts and something with arch support indoors.
Google stretches for plantar faciitis. Roll your foot on a hard ball several times a day to massage it.
A walking holiday is not going to help you now if you do have this. Sorry.
