4 day headache

I had crippling daily headaches and migraines whilst on the pill but then I stopped it in October and I was delighted my headaches went.

Fast forward to now and since Friday I've had an on/off headache. I feel I'm quite well versed in headaches but health anxiety has panicked me as I've not had one for some time.

Please chill me out!!

Normally I'd blame:
Sleep - sleeping fine but waking up with the headache

Hormones - not on any contraceptive, headache started cd16.

Caffeine - no more or less than normal

Stress/anxiety - always! But no different

Hydration - I'm drinking lots!

Can tension headaches - if that's what it is - come and go over several days??

If you're worried see your GP but before Christmas the combination of work stress and Christmas prep led to a 10 day headache that just wouldn't shift. I had a tiredness behind my eyes (If that makes sense) and felt dreadful. A week off work for Christmas finally cured it! Just mentioning it in case your health anxiety is actually prolonging it. Alternatively - if not on contraception could you be pregnant? I had terrible headaches in the early days of my pregnancies. Hope you feel better soon

My gp is sick of me I think Blush Can pmt symptoms start 10 days before?! I'm clutching at straws here to calm myself. Irrational I know.

Actually now you mention pmt.... since I hit 40 (may be completely irrelevant!) I do tend to suffer headaches in the week before my period. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can help ease your anxiety though

There is a virus going round which is headache based (my mum and I have both had it) on the top of the head

Any chance you have cut down on sugar significantly (including dry January - there's loads of booze in alcohol)?

Thanks, the annoying thing is how it comes and goes.

It then comes back over my forehead, temples and neck.

Could it be sinus pressure? They are either side of your nose and above your eyebrows. It often radiates into a general headache and neck ache. It might be the start of a cold.... poor you

I've wondered that sea as my right ear has been a bit stuffy but no cough or sneezing. Ah well. Again it went for several hours on its own then back again.

Do you have an ear thermometer? I have often found that with my DC when they have an ear infection, one ear reads higher than the other. If you have an ear infection, it would explain the headaches and it would be likely you might have blocked/infected sinuses too.

I would try a decongestant or mucous thinner like guanefesin and saline spray up your nose and see if it helps (with some ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and help with the headache) Just keep an eye on any multi symptom products you take and dont double dose on ingredients accidentally

Leela2 · 22/01/2018 21:09

With it being in your neck as well, I would guess at tension headaches, and yes they can come and go for days. Also could be rebound headache from painkillers perhaps.

Update: scary dizzy spell this morning only lasted a few seconds but I was just sat at my desk and then my head felt like it was filling with jelly then passed. I have tinnitus in my right ear, feels sort of blocked and the same mild headache.

Ear infection?

I've had one before and that seriously hurt, drum burst and all sorts of crap came out. This isn't remotely that sore but ringing and stuffy.

God I feel so moany.
