Pelvic Organ Prolapse..

Hi all, new to group and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 47 year old perimenopausal Scottish woman. Currently on HRT patches. I recently visited my GP with a swelling I felt inside/front of my vagina - to cut a long story short, as well as having a UTI she said she thinks the swelling is a mild bladder prolapse. I've been referred to Physio at Women's Health. To be honest I have felt things haven't been right 'down there' since the birth of my daughter nearly 26 years ago. I was torn quite badly and received stitches (dissolvable). I have basically felt as if I've been kinda 'hollow' since. That's crazy I know as I went on to conceive and have another child and nobody said anything looked 'wrong'. Well it clearly is now. I have soo many questions for you all but I'll pace myself lol. My first question is this - I love to work out and take care of my body. I don't smoke and exercise usually around 3 times a week. This includes Body Pump. I really really hope that Body Pump isn't contributing to this prolapse :-( I honestly can't give it up. As well as exercising for my mental health, it's almost like a social outing for me. I'm worried my Physio tells me to cut it out as it definitely benefits me more than it harms me. I will have lots more questions and would be grateful for your wisdom and knowledge.

Hi Miz

Sorry to hear this. I've got prolapses as well. I think advice on exercise can vary and to be led by your consultant/gp. The best person to be referred to also is a urogynaecologist (as opposed to a gynaecologist) as they are trained to deal with prolapses.

Also, there's a webchat about prolapses happening here on Jan 23rd, here's the link if you want to post a question in advance?
