I was told I didn't ovulate purely because of hormonal imbalances - there was nothing physically wrong with me. I was told to go on the pill until I wanted children and that would regularise my hormones & cycle. I've now got 2 boys aged 13 & 11 - both conceived first month of trying.

i`d been on the pill for years before i had my daughter (3 years ago). not sure whats best to do now as we have been tryin 4 ages thinking i would one day out of the blue fall pregnant, but cause im not ovulating thats not gonna happen x

It's weird, isn't it? I remember the consultant told me there was a drug he could give me to make me ovulate if it didn't happen naturally.

im scared of going in case they say i cant have any more kids, as im only 23

You need to get sorted out, then. It's CRAZY not to go to see someone - the infection is probably linked to your current problems so you need to find out what's wrong. It's probably something simple. Don't stick your head in the sand - what's the point of trying to get pg when you know there's something wrong that needs to be put right. If you're anywhere near N.London or Herts I know a brilliant man called Yunus Tayob - he's lovely.

I'm off to bed - do yourself a favour and stop fretting - phone your GP in the morning and explain the situation. No point stewing

Hi there, don't know if you've done anything about this yet, but just wanted to say it's really common to have problems with a second (or other) child...... and just as 40plus says, its mainly hormones not having sorted themselves out. I have friends who's first pg.s left them with different sorts of hormone problems. Thyroid, easily treated, female hormones, also easily treated, all have children now! I'd be a be wary of going on the pill, one of my friends has only just started ov. 16 months after coming off the pill. I'm sure that's rare, but you might want to try something else first!

the GP can get some blood tests done for you in teh first instance, and then you can decide what to do. There are some wonderful endocrinologists in Manchester :-)

How can you tell if you're not ovulating?

meto · 27/04/2007 11:46

i'm having similar probs after my first, so far i've assumed i'm not ov due to the persona moniter.

will the doctors actually give you a referal for non OV if you don't mention the ttc part? (i'm 25 so in a similar place as you )

if you don't mind me asking are you having af every month?

RLR · 27/04/2007 22:45

yeah istill have AF every month , im not 100% sure what will happen when i explain the situation to my GP there more than likely send me for bleeds and tests.

Hi! I have this problem. We tried to conceive for a year or so, but nothing happened. I asked the Dr for advice, they referred me to the hospital. The hospital arranged for an 10 minute operation called a laparoscopy, which is basically a camera through the belly button to see what problems I had, if any!

The result came back as basically I don't ovulate. I kind of new this was going to be the case because I have my periods twice a month.

Anyhow, I was put on some tablets for a few days at the start of the monthly cycle. The tablets were called clomid or clomiphene (I think thats how you spell it). This is how I conceived my daughter. The hospital said that there was a chance after having my daughter, that everything would return to normal. Sadly it didn't, and they said that if I wanted to conceive again, I would have to take the tablets. I was happy with this. However, I fell pregnant naturally, don't quite now how.

Since the birth of my son, my period problems returned (twice a month), which I do detest. Have been thinking about a hysterectomy in a few years.

Please don't worry about it, the fact that you have conceived a child indicates that everything is working. You should visit your Dr and discuss your worries.
