glaucoma question - how quickly can it progress if treatment is delayed?

I had an optician's appointment last June which showed that my eye pressure was normal but the vision field test showed some loss of peripheral vision in my left eye so I was referred to an eye clinic. I finally got the clinic appointment last Monday where I was diagnosed with low pressure glaucoma (my pressure readings are well within the normal range) in both eyes and told that I would receive a letter within a week offering me an appointment with the glaucoma clinic within a month or so.

I haven't had an appointment letter yet and asked my GP to chase it today with the clinic. The clinic's response is that they know about me but the appointment hasn't been set yet and I will get a letter in the next few weeks.

I am feeling extremely anxious as the visual field test showed vision loss at the optician's appointment last June and it is now nearly 8 months later. Could a delay in starting treatment lead to serious deterioration or is glaucoma such a slow developing disease that another few months wouldn't really make a difference? I am only 43 with no family history of glaucoma.

I would try not to worry too much....it took me about a year to be diagnosed with low pressure glaucoma....repeated field tests, MIR scan, photos etc. I was about the same age as you
Now I put an eye drop in each eye every night and have a check up every 6 months, I have no obvious ( to me) vision loss.
Any siblings over 40 are entitled to free eye tests
