How do you manage with constantly asking for sick days from work when your school kids are continually ill?

I'm getting so depressed with the amount of time I keep having to take off work with either dd being ill or me with something she's passed onto me. A lot of the people I work with don't have kids and I'm sure they must sigh and think I'm deprived of any active immune system.

Since the new year I've had nearly 6 weeks off in total

not read through the whole thread.

We are allowed 15 days a year Carer's leave... that includes sick kids, sick elderly relatives, taking kids to dentist, doctors, hospital appointments etc.

DS broke his leg.... 15 days carer's leave didnt go far then I can tell you!

some have great big muffins, sweets, normal kids stuff. after school most of them are ravenous.

one child said to me 'you smell of bananas'

'thanks' i said

then i realised i was sitting next to the bin bag

themoon66 · 27/04/2007 22:03

Oh SEA... you joined MN about same time as me

Love your rabbits .... soooo cute!

imaginaryfriend · 27/04/2007 22:05

themoon, I'd have used those 15 days already by now!

SEA, what are the rabbits called?

And, when we met, I did notice a bit of a whiff of bananas ... Are you sure it was the bin?!

I'm a smalll business owner (children's daycare.)

We can only pay stat. sick and maternity leave. Any staff time off with sick children has to be taken as either A/L or unpaid. I'd love to be able to pay more but, as we work on ratios, if a staff member is away from work, we need to pay for a replacement and we'd then be paying twice ( though SMP is refunded to us.)

It's good to read posts from those whose DH/DP's share the 'time-off for ill children.'

southeastastra · 27/04/2007 22:18

southeastastra · 27/04/2007 22:25
