What can I do about such heavy periods?

I’ve had heavy periods since they began but for the last 8 years or so they have been very heavy, particularly on the 2nd & 3rd day. I’m 45 this year and they seem be getting worse.
I just don’t know what to do to make them lighter. If it wasn’t such a big op I would happily have a hysterectomy.
I’ve tried tranexamic acid but they upset my stomach. I’ve tried ibuprofen which helps but I don’t really want to do that long term. I can’t have hormonal meds as I get migraine with aura and have been told that’s a stroke risk.
I’ve been seen by the gynae department at the hospital, they found polyps and removed them last year, this helped for a couple of months but now I’m back to square one. The only option seems to be the mirena but I have so many friends who have tried it and had endless symptoms, even the ones who love it had a good 6-12 months of symptoms before it settled and that puts me off.
I feel I’ve exhausted all of my options.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried taking 2 transemic acid just before you go to bed? That seems to work for me.
I was also recommended a procedure called endometrial ablation which apparently works well for very heavy periods. I'm not sure you can get it in the NHS though.

Twoweek, Mirena worked for me. I'm a similar age, and similar issues (have had 2 surgeries for polyps). I wasn't keen on the Mirena, but it has honestly completely solved the heavy period issue, and I haven't really had any side effects.
